Not looking for fine dining, just good eats ... breakfast, lunch, and casual dinner ... even hole-in-the-walls welcomed. TIA

Penn Ave Fish Co for lunch. Its a seafood market that sells sushi and fish sandwiches. Very good.

Meat and Potatoes for dinner. Everything is great here and they have good cocktails.

Primanti Brothers. Last time I was there, I ate here at every meal b/c it was across from the hotel. It was also opened for 24 hrs!

Arse love your weekend threads, but I ate there while in Pitt and was not impressed ? To me they just piled as much crap on a sandwich as they could for the sake of novelty. Nothing special about any of it. I left with the feeling I was caught in a tourist trap ?

It worked well for me. I had fried bologna and egg sandwiches with fries and slaw. I can see what you're saying.

I was there for the wvu game a few years ago. It served it's purpose of breaking down the bourbon. And you can't beat the sandwich at 3:00 am when you're white boy wasted.

Primanti Brothers.
I enjoyed it a lot when I went. Most of the Pittsburg dining scene is pretty meh unless you're eating at upscale steak houses. However, that Primante sandwich was pretty good. I had the philly cheese steak a couple times, good stuff.

Good evening, lads. Spent a good bit of time there during my last trip to the States.

For a nice dining option, my #1 choice is Tambellini's for Italian.

Outside of that, I highly recommend Fathead's on the Southside, one of my favorite places on Earth. The local chain, Eat N'Park, has an awesome burger called the Superburger and grilled stickies ala mode for dessert which will knock your socks off.

The strip district has some great places, such as DeLuca's and Jojo's for breakfast, the original Primanti Bros., and the Pennsylvania Macaroni Co., which is the closest you can get to Italy without actually going. Wholey's Fish Company is a huge indoor seafood market with just about anything you can imagine, and has the best fried fish sandwich you'll ever eat.

I also recommend you take a trip to the top of Mount Washington (take the incline, if possible) and eat a Devonshire sandwich at Lemont. The Devonshire is a famous Pittsburgh sandwich, and the view from there is incredible.

For pizza, try Fiori's or my personal favorite, Beto's, which features raw toppings on top of hot crust, a surprisingly tasty configuration.

Lastly, the Polish platters at Broomfield Bridge Tavern are awesome, as well.

Cheers!

I wholeheartedly agree with this. Much better than Primanti, great burgers and sandwiches and tons of local brews. Great place to watch a game.

Don't get me wrong, I like Primanti's, but it's definitely not for everyone. Fatheads, on the other hand, has some of the best sandwiches and bar food I've ever consumed. Their "headwiches" are incredible.

I agree that Primantis does suck but lets no go overboard on the food at Fat Heads. Its my favorite place to drink beer in the city and has a great tap list but the food is mediocre. The portions are huge and its not bad but lets not act like its good either.

bonesmd has some good recs also. I really like thin man.

Fatheads just has some really unique combinations that I really enjoy. "Long Live the King", "Double D", "Head Brewben", and "Mighty Fine Bovine" are 4 of the best 'wiches I've had in my travels. Bollocks to that Iron City beer though.
