Going up to Pennsylvania for a few days in late June for work. 2 nights in Pittsburgh and 1 night in Philadelphia. Anyone having recommendations for each? Hitting a Pirates game one night but probably want a good meal for the other. Eater has a Philly page that I have been scouring but nothing on Pitt.

I'm from Pittsburgh. I'm sure some people will recommend Primanti Bros. but personally I think it's bland and overrated. Not sure if Meat and Potatoes has reopened but if so, it's very good. The Hyeholde near the airport is excellent, but pricy. I like Fiori's for pizza (be sure to get a carton or two of Turner's tea to wash it down), and Le Mont atop Mount Washington is a great experience. For sandwiches and beer, my favorite is Fatheads. Luke Wholey's is good, as is the Wholey seafood market in the Strip. Try Pittsburgh's original famous sandwich - the Devonshire - at Union Grill.

In Pittsburg, Emporio: A Meatball Joint over near Duquesne on Penn Ave was really good for a boozy/heavy lunch.

Fat Heads > Primanti, but you should go to the original Primanti on 18th for the nostalgia. It is a Pittsburgh institution.

At fat heads, the Fuddwich is legit. It has been years, I’m already jealous.

Morcilla - Spanish cuisine, house cured meats (first and foremost)
Piccolo Forno - Italian, BYOB (places around to drink before/after, Church Brew Works, Industry, Eleventh Hour Brewing)
Umi - sushi $$$$

Recommended above, Meat and Potatoes along with their other restaurant Butcher and the Rye are temporarily closed. So is Dish Ostaria in Southside. Another one I used to frequent, Smoke, is take out only right now.

Plenty of bars on Carson Street in Southside. Crazy sandwiches at Fatheads on Carson. Hofbrauhaus Brewery and Restaurant in Southside is a fun place to drink and eat for the novelty.

In Philly check out DiNics in the Reading Terminal. Only good nice restaurant I went to over there was Fork and it was a great experience.
