What are y’all thoughts on this Grill/Smoker. I’m Thinking about pulling the trigger on this bad boy. I was wondering hows the quality of smoked meats on this.

Looks awesome , unfortunately I'm poor and kind of trashy so I use a weber kettle .

I’m currently using a Weber Kettle to smoke meats. The one reason I don’t smoke meat more is cause the time it takes to babysit the weber. I’m looking for a lazy mans way of smoking meat, and have more time playing with the kiddos, and not worrying about temps on the grill. Which fluctuates a lot on the Weber, I find.

Interested in this thread as well. Interested in this vetical one from costco that looks like a re-branded pit boss. In store it's $450. Already gave up my man card by replacing my charcoal grill with a natural gas one. My smoker was falling apart so i tossed it. With 2 kids a pellet smoker just seems easier for now.

I've done tons of smokes on my Weber kettle. Sometimes, the kettle holds temperatures without fluctuation. For low and slow (approximately 250), I use the snake method (2 x 1) with six lit coals to start, leave the top vent completely open and the bottom vent at 33% or so open. If temperatures are a little high, I'll remove a lit coal or two or close the top vent to 50%. For hot and fast (300+, generally around 400), I like to use the charcoal baskets. I fill one basket full and then place four or five lit coals on top of the basket. I then choke the bottom vent down to approximately 50%. I can hold 400 for a few hours like this. It's great to smoke chicken like this. I did a whole split chicken today and it took about 90 minutes.
I've had some issues smoking when the weather is cold but especially when it's windy. I've started smoking in an area protected from the wind, or just did so with the understanding temperatures would be high.
I wish for more consistency. I'm 3/3 smoking chicken at hot and fast with consistency. I'm 2/4 on the boston butt.
Good luck!

I much prefer Camp Chef Pellet Smokers. Research them. They are the best in this category. I did a crapload of research before going with it.

I have one and absolutely love it. I use it so much more than I use my gas grill. I’ve had a pitboss for about a year and I’ve never had a problem. It was a great investment.

I got one from my groomsmen. It’s awesome and quick.

Yep
that is what I use, One of my sons has the camp chef and it does well enough and I bought the other a GMG as a gift and it works well also but neither is in the same league as a Yoder or the other more expensive models. The GMG is pretty slick as it is portable though, IDGAF about wifi.
I know nothing about the pit boss but would assume it works just fine and is built to the price point which means it will not be a "lifetime" grill.
warning, once you go pellet you will never go back

I almost picked one up this weekend at Lowes. They have a new exclusive $499 version that seems like a great deal. Dual temp probes, added shelving, cast iron grates, and a sear mode that could create a nice smokey reverse sear for steaks. LINK
Obviously it's no Yoder, but seems like a great entry/first pellet grill. Did a little research and it seems you can add an aftermarket PID controller down the road for a couple hundred bucks.

I have a GMG and love it. I did see one of these at the store and felt sturdier than my GMG. Would love to know how they perform.

But we're talking upper end pellet poopers. For what OP is looking to spend, I prefer the Camp Chef line like another posted mentioned.

Smokin Brothers is a nice well made pellet grill too. They don't have a local dealer but it's made in the U>S< and supposed to have a great customer service. You can talk to the owners if you call them.

I just pulled the trigger on the Maverick 850 from Pitts and Spitts. Picking it up Saturday morning. Bought it used from a guy who cooks so much he needed to move up to the 2000 version, which he was actually having delivered while I was there checking out the 850. He kept it in his garage and took care of it. Just went and saw it today and it still looks brand new.
