I love Pinetta's chicken parm. The place is a little grimy but I've never had a bad meal there.

I’ll never understand how the owner just doesn’t care about how dirty the restaurant is. With that said I enjoyed the food the one time I went but the wife would never go back with how dirty it was

I went because it was the only place I could find that served German dishes.

Does anyone know of other places in SE LA that serves Sauerbratten or Shnitzel?

Pinetta's is great. I hope none of you see the kitchen of any restaurant ever.

Pinetta's is great for what it is, and I'm glad that it continues to exist in Baton Rouge. The place has character, and that includes the dust and plating dishes at the table directly from the skillet. If you don't like it, don't go.

This might not apply specifically to Pinetta’s but there’s this weird phenomena where people feel obligated to over hype hole in the wall restaurants. It’s almost like a “I know something you don’t know” thing

Yep, I've been saying this for years. Its this weird need to feel cool because you went somewhere lesser known or (in the case of some places) because its in the north BR and you're white.

Prime example is Dixie Maid. People tout it as the best burger in town. Have you seen their burgers? Enjoy it for what it is. No need to hype it up so much.

In contrast, places like Chicken Shack and Blue Store actually have a product that is better than elsewhere.

I worked in a restaurant for 5 years. Worked in a bar that served food after that. Neither had dirty kitchens, so I honestly have no idea what you're talking about.

The two things I always remember about Pinetta's are how good and homey the food it, and also just how much goddamn dust is in that place.

Well played LL, I enjoy Pinetta's and had really never paid attention to this. But you made me laugh!

Sauce dumped onto plain (usually room temp) noodles is a huge pet peeve of mine. It’s basically serving an unfinished meal.
