That's a good resource.. It's mind boggling the number of restaurants and the variety New York has to offer. Also interesting is that shifts in markets and changes in trends don't ever adversely affect the magnitude and diversity of New York restaurants.

I've been going to New York for 35 years. I've had dinner, lunch and breakfast countless times, in all five boroughs of New York City with investment bankers, doctors, lawyers, food network staff, fashion industry executives, Broadway publicists and producers, and more goomba's than I can recall and not one of them has ever said, "Let's go to Peter Luger's." Not one.

Went a couple of months ago. Only time we could get in was 5:30 so we weren't super hungry but we both enjoyed it. I don't think we would ever go back but it was a good experience. I have been craving the bacon appetizer since.

Not because it wasn't good because it was but it was just something we wanted to do and we did it. It's not somewhere I would feel the need to go to every time I am around there. I would try other places to give it a better comparison.

I thought PL was horribly overrated. But to be fair, I generally don’t like ordering steaks at restaurants. I can pick up high quality steaks at the local butcher and cook them exactly how I like at home, so restaurant steaks typically are a letdown

Peter Lugers needs an overhaul but they are too stubborn to catch up to the times.
I've never been, but then they just become another NYC steakhouse.

I have wondered how slicing the steak doesn't dry it and allow it to cool too fast.
