It is a great feeling when you get one that peels easily.
It sucks when they don't.
Discuss as you wish.

Use old eggs. Steam eggs. Ice water bath after leaving pot. Get that great feeling every time.

That's the trick. It's easier to peel hard boiled eggs that you bought a week or more ago compared to eggs you bought recently.

How does this work? Sounds interesting.

Have you tried the roll on the roll on the counter top method? Works very well.

No. I know nothing of this advanced technique!

Take it in your hand, give it a tap on the counter to crack it a bit. Then roll it between the counter and your hand. I usually then peel it under running water but that part is optional. Very fast and effective.

If this works for me, it will be the culinary tip of the year.

I usually crack the top portion of the boiled egg, run water through the crack, then peel the egg. Works good for me.

I usually boil at least a half dozen at a time . This last batch I added a healthy pour of vinegar and salt. They peeled like plastic easter eggs. Seriously shell came off in two pulls. I always thought the vinegar thing was bullshite and it probably is but they were he easiest peeling eggs I have ever made.

Old eggs, ice bath, roll on the counter. Peel away perfect 11/12 times. Because there's always that one bastard egg that doesn't behave like the others. I call him the bad egg. The disposal usually eats him though.

Last week I made scotch eggs and the whole peeling thing went really, really bad.

Crack and Roll is the way to go.

you need a vegetable steam basket. the kind that folds upon itself. put enough water in pot to come just below the basket. bring to a boil. place eggs in the basket and lid the pot. steam for 12 minutes and immediately remove to ice water.
Perfect eggs every time. I struggled for years with boiled eggs until I found this method.
