Whirlpool washer 20+ years old. The washer works fine, except that on permanent press and the knits/gentle cycle, the drum won't spin the clothes dry. If I use the Regular cycle, the washer goes through the whole cycle and will spin them dry.
Why doesn't the spin work on the permanent press or gentle cycle?

Actually, wife was trying delicate but the clothes didn't spin dry. She then tried the permanent press cycle, and it didn't spin either. The regular load, will spin. So there is a real problem between different cycles.

Hey, I tried that. It didn't fix the washer, but it did spit out 20 bitcoins!!!

The old washing machines are more durable, but the new ones spin hella faster and dry/wring the clothes more, so they need less time in the dryer.

Generally a new timer. But you can try repairing the contacts in the old timer. Just sand them down a little.
The problem you have can only be caused by a control error so it's for sure the timer.

Because appliances peaked in the 90's and side by side 90's appliances are better in every category except appeal.
