If I buy a sack on the 24th but keep on ice overnight and shuck the next day, will they still be ok?

Absolutely if they are recently harvested...check the harvest date.

Yeah, I do this all the time. I have a spare fridge in the man cave and will put what I don't shuck right away in it or if it is full, I'll put the oysters in an ice chest over some ice, and leave the side plug open to drain so no fresh water accumulates.

Just called a couple seafood places around N.O. and was told they are now between $56-$59 a small sack that contains between 70-90 oysters, depending on size.

That's insane. As much as I love oysters, I refuse to fork over that kind of money for them.

Depends on how bad you want oysters I guess. This is the time they are fat and salty. I am willing to pay a premium if the alternative is no oysters.

I paid $49 for a small sack yesterday in Monroe.

If I want oysters, I’ll pay a hell of a lot more than that.

Yep, and there are those who just have to have crawfish to boil this time of year and are willing to pay upwards of $5 a lb. for them live by the sack.

Just like oysters right now, not this guy.
