Seems like a lot of quiet haters for Olive or Twist.

I don't hate the place myself, but it gets deafening inside when Olive or Twist gets crowded. The food is good and the cocktails are excellent.

It’s dark, it’s in a corner of BR literally under an overpass. It just feels like old BR to me.

That sounds more like ZeeZee Garden than Overpass Merchant. OM is sterile compared to what ti used to be, though good food and good drinks.

LOL, come on man. I love the place but you need to get out more if you believe this.

There was a bit of hyperbole there, but it’s the best I’ve had. That’s what we eat there typically.

We go to the merchant a lot and I don’t think I’ve ever had hummus there other than the Greek wrap which was recently added to the menu

Lamb hummus is always on the menu.

Check the chalkboard for daily specials. I’ve had hummus with chicken, and garden hummus. Both superb.

We go for lunch typically so I might’ve missed it. Hasn’t been on the dinner menu for more than a couple months though.

I want to add BRQ to this list. I think Rouj Creole has a shot but it is too new.

Bumsteers is the best new joint in town.
Food is damn good.
The rooftop atmosphere is the shite. And they have a shite-ton of fans for the La summer heat.
And drinks ain't no joke in a good way.

I don't get the hype. Yeah, it's a rooftop, but the view is a shitty looking street and a row of one story buildings.

The view isn't the point. It's a patio space on top of the building most days. But a few weekends a year it'll be the place to be.
The food is very good and unique. Like the OP mentioned... the Merchant. They have carved out a spot in the market. Bumsteers is doing the same.
The Baerito for brunch and the Thai beef salad for supper are unreal flavor. And traditional stuff like burgers and wings have a twists most customers are raving about.

I don't have a stake in the place.

I agree the couple weekends a year it's nice, though I think the rooftop at chimes will be better when it's finished speaking soley on atmosphere

There will be no equal in this town for a rooftop at Chimes. Even Lnchbox won't argue that.
