Omi - Building Sold - Owners Want to Retire
quote:
Omi, a restaurant near the intersection of Interstate 10 and Essen Lane that was popular for its authentic Chinese dishes, is set to close.
The building at 7951 One Calais Ave. that houses Omi was sold last week, said Steve Gao, an agent with Re/Max First who had the listing. The restaurant will operate for a few more days.
The Omi building had been for sale for about a year. Gao said the owners wanted to retire and have someone take over the business.
...
Gao said the new owners plan to run a sushi restaurant and bar in the building.

I loved Omi when I lived in the area. Even though I don't get down to BR much anymore this is so disappointing to see.

I do wonder if the chef(s) = owner. I'd think the chef is much more important than the name or the ownership. Who want's to go halfsies to buy Omi and move it to Ascension Parish?

The owners are the chefs.

We got ours last night. Tried to place order at 6. Told to call back at 6:40.
Picked up food at 8:15. Line of about 8 people who were hungry and frustrated but all worth it.
RIP
