Just Google Vincent’s Italian restaurant Baton Rouge and a 7951 One Calais address pops up.

I don't know, it might have been both. When I googled it this came up as the first response. The second return shows the One Calais address. I recall eating at the Highland Rd. restaurant.

"Vincent's Italian Cuisine of Baton Rouge
7343 Highland Rd. Baton Rouge, LA 70808. Directions.
(225) 819-2722.

Vincent's Italian Cuisine of Baton Rouge - Restaurant Reviews"

Brandt's Maisonette was the son of the Chalet Brandt owner. I think he was the chef when they closed Chalet Brandt.

That building has been for sale for years.

Looks like this listing is only 14 days old. Not a great sign.

Man, a half days work of power washing would make that building look drastically better. Not sure why they didn't do that before taking pictures

For as great as those dishes looked coming out of the kitchen, they were somehow blind to the exterior. A pressure washing and few hours of weed control were always in need.

This closure is very weird to me. By all accounts people loved the food here and they were at this location for over 5 years something the other past 10 restaurants or so can’t say. I get the location isn’t the easiest to get to but for as good as their food was this closure is definitely a surprise.

I think it's a combination of covid and the age/health of the owners. Despite others saying it was always dead in there, they were quite busy many of the times I went and had a very, very loyal following among the local Chinese and asian population.

Is it though? Every time I had ever been, I was one of the only people in there.

I love the place, but I'm certainly not surprised a place that is always empty closed. Sad, yes.

Ah. Well that's good. I always kinda felt bad they never seemed busy when I went.

Friday and Saturday evenings seemed to be pretty busy with Asian families and students. I did take-out a few times during Covid and was always one of 3 or 4 people waiting to pay and go.

I was in there lots of weekends for lunch and it was nearly empty as well. It's a damn shame if they disappear.

If I remember, the chef and menu was originally at a place closer to LSU called ...Koi I believe. Then it popped up where it is now called OMI. I think that chef left and a new family took over a few years back. This is all stuff I've pieced together over the years, so that may not be totally accurate.

I grabbed take-out last week from Omi and kind of pressed the girl working the front. She did say they were moving, but either didn't know or wouldn't say where. I kind of got the impression moving is the plan, but not so sure they have anything lined up.

I told her I wouldn't be heartbroken if they moved out to Ascension or closer that way. I'm greedy like that.

I think one of them is the cumin chicken.

And damn I loved Omi when I lived down there. I still stop in occasionally when I pass through BR around lunch of dinner time.

Those two were pictures from Lee’s Asian Fusion up by Watson.

Spicy Diced Chicken
Hot pot beef.

Both are pretty standard Sichuan dishes. Omi’s version of the chicken is Chong Qing spicy chicken.

The beef dish is often translated to “ boiled beef” or spicy oil beef
