Finally broke down and bought a 4 pak yesterday evening.
I am a really big fan of stouts, so take this very positive review with a grain of salt, as i may be slightly biased towards this style of brew.

Poured from bottle into glass pint.
Really pitch black in color with a caramel head. Lots of lacing on glass after head recedes.
Really super small bubbles. Very cool.

This beer was super rich and creamy. Was slightly bitter with hints of coffee and chocolate. It had a little bit of warming going down the gullet, but really couldnt have guessed it to be at 9% abv.
Seemed to almost coat the inside of the mouth.
Just enough carbonation.

I enjoyed the hell out of this beer. It seemed perfect for the evening. Drizzling rain, cold, big fire in the fireplace, and watching the Saints game on DVR. ( Went to the dome to watch live)

Beer enthusiasts, what are your top 3 favorite stouts?
Must trys?

Old Rasputin is one of the best you can buy, and the price is great. 8.99 for a 4pk still?

1. Old Rasputin
2. Sierra Nevada Stout
3. Alesmith Speedway Stout

Off the top of my head, here are some great ones:

North Coast Old Rasputin
Great Divide Yeti
Oskar Blues Ten Fidy
Dieu Du Ciel Peche Mortal
Mikkeller Beer Geek Brunch Weasel
NOLA Irish Channel Stout

Guess I'm partial to Imperial/Double Stouts
North Coast Old #38 is really good as well.

Old Rasputin is a great IS available year round.

I recently tried Brooklyn's Black Chocolate Stout, which I thought was fantastic as well. I liked it slightly better than Old Rasputin. But that's splitting hairs.

Big fan of the Rogue Chocolate Stout as well.

I guess I like chocolate stouts.

The chocolate oak aged Yeti I had was awesome

If you get a chance, try Real Ale's 15th anniversary stout, it's very good as well

I have an Abyss waiting to be tried and I expect big things from it

Brooklyn's Black Chocolate Stout is amazing. Picked up a 4-pack for 8.99 yesterday. Also, Samuel Adams Cream Stout is pretty good as well

Although this is technically a stout, I don't feel like it belongs with the others listed. It is a dessert style beer all the way IMO. Make no mistake about it though, the creme brulee stout is absolutely fabulous. I just think it should be in a different catagory.

Old Rasputin is pretty solid. What's the best temp to serve it at?

55-64 is what is recommended

LINK

ETA: I like it probably closer to the 64 than the 55, but shite, I take it out of the fridge, pour, and enjoy. I usually take my time with IIPA and Imperial stouts so the temp runs the gambit. I do find you screw yourself from getting the full flavor if you you drink them too cold though.

Old Rasputin is the standard bearer for the imperial stout. If you like it, you will also like the Breakfast Stout by Founder's.

I picked up a 4 pack today at Whole Foods when I discovered the SN Celebration had been cleaned out of there as well as Calandros. Maybe drinking one of those will help sooth my hurt feelings.

I actually like the "Chocolate Covered Dead Guy" mix that they make at Bulldog. Pretty easy drinking and quite tasty.
