No, i'm not trying to impress her, I just want somewhere a little romantic, not too loud where you can talk, not too fancy, (it's a first date) Just some place conducive to me laying my rap down.

Roberto's is a great call, btw.

Thanks to all who've answered.

Pinetta's is a good deal too.

I like Bay Leaf, a lot, but Indian is kinda polarizing. I don't know how she rolls just yet.

Would not be a good idea if the house critters come out to play though.

Stay away from Chains and look for places that are unique.. Would show that you are not a follower and you know your community.

Do they serve Spotted Dick there?

If so then I highly recommend him take her there.

dont take her to a super fancy place because she will think you are trying to hard to blow money, impress her and get into her pants.

go to places that have great food and bar options on a budget. id second the byronz bistro notion.

i always say chelseas for a first date because the service is on the slower side, but that just give you to more time to chat back and forth with each other. if you aren't ready to end the night, you can walk to one of the other bars and grab one more drink.

I half agree with this

Don't go anywhere too romantic or fancy

It's a first date. Take her somewhere local (don't do Chili's or another lame chain) and be yourself.

Why blow 120 on a first date? You can't afford to do that every time (and even if you could, why the hell would you want to) and she knows that. The time for upscale places will come later.

OK, we wound up at Pinetta's due to geography more than anything else. (Byronz was on tap as plan B)
Turns out she likes hole-in-the-wall places, so it worked out well.
Food was good, server was ditzy but nice, it was kinda romantic, but not too much so, it was a good choice.
Whilst I am clearly out-kicking my coverage, I think I'm in.
Thanks for the opinions and humor (intentional and unintentional)

Start at Juban's for drinks, then drive to DiGuilios for Dinner, she'll be impressed

Did you eat with a rolled up newspaper in one hand?

Well if she likes hole in the wall places then Roberto's would be a good fit too.
