Gf and I will be in NYC next weekend for a wedding (that I’m not invited to) which leaves me with an entire day to eat, drink, and post all that goodness to the FDB. She’ll be doing “hair n make up” all day and then going to the wedding. My only obligation is to walk her from her mom’s house to Time Warner Center for the ceremony (so I need to pace my day-drinking).

What I’m looking for are some good ethnic and burger recs. Been to NYC plenty times. Possibly burger for lunch and something new for dinner. I’m in search of some good/affordable Korean, Israeli, or Japanese yakitori for dinner as those cuisines are foreign to me. For lunch I want to branch out my burger horizons.

Burger’s I’ve had so far: Burger Joint, Shake Shack, Corner Bistro, Les Halles, Molly’s Pub. What I’m interested in: PJ Clarke’s, JG Melon

I’m clueless as to ethnic for dinner. It can be the shadiest hole-in-the-wall as long as it’s good. And I’m open to anywhere in Manhattan (preferably LES since I’ll be in the East Village bar hopping)

I’ve already got my dive bars covered.

Cheers

I assume if she is doing all of this, she is in the wedding... and you're not invited? Ain't that some shite.

A destination wedding without a +1? Northerners are freakin' weird.

Also: have you tried momufuku's Ma Peche in Midtown? Might fit your bill for ethnic. Though I had fried chicken, which was the best thing I ate the whole trip.

Have you been to Ippudo? Last time I was in town everyone I talked to recommended it over Momofuku. I haven't been there, we ended up at Momofuku because the wait was 1.5 hrs at Ippudo and 20 minutes at Momofuku.

Beauty and Essex or Stanton Social in the LES.

Sorry. Didn't see the ethnic joints request in there.

Been to momofuku noodle bar.
May Peche sounds good.

The fried chicken has my attention. Country fried or habenero?

Do me a favor and yourself and go to Mad For Chicken for some late night Korean fried chicken, shoju, beer, and an awesome vinyl selection.

Trust me on this. But verify. Its on like 34th and 5th

Highly suggest Spotted Pig in the west village if you're after a burger.

I got country fried because my wife doesn't like spicy chicken. It beat the hell out of Willie Mae's. Ma Peche doesn't have much in the way of ambiance or a view but the food stands on its own. Also milk bar has great dessert on your way out.

T'was an autocorrect typo. Stand by my thesis, though.

He may have been talking about the beer. If so, I agree with him
