Have read reviews from past threads on this but of the following 3, which one would you select:
Desi Vega
Chophouse
La Boca

Fwiw have already eaten at:
Doris Metropolitan
Mr. John’s
Charlie’s
Crescent City
Ruth’s
Fleming’s

I'd go in the order you have them listed.

You took LE's bait. He listed La Boca first for a reason.

Now prepare for a comment from him about staying in Metairie to eat at Poboy places and bad Italian food.

OP, your list in the order you have it looks good.

LaBoca’s the one whose owner mocked and laughed about a young man dying from Covid complications, right?

Had a vendor take a couple of us to Chophouse recently and it was fantastic.

I appreciate the feedback! For those that have eaten at both Mr. John’s and Desi Vega (I know he’s got ownership in both), I see the menus are basically identical. Any true difference from your experiences?

La Boca is the best place on that list. Chophouse is 2nd. Desi vega is sterile & boring

La Boca is the most overrated place on that list.

FWIW I came to this conclusion in 2016, so you can't blame it on chef's politics or his covid takes.

owner aside, La Boca's tasting menu for $50 ish a person is impossible to beat and a great meal. Full steak, 4-5 shared apps, 3-4 shared sides, dessert. (min 4 people)

You will be stuffed and happy

I wouldn’t call Desi Vegas sterile, just kind of tacky to be honest. The clientele is just gross. You can always expect corvettes parked illegally out front and gaudy 80k millionaires drinking meiomi.

Doris and mr johns are the best, btw.

I don't pay attention to any of that.

and

Desi is part owner of Mr. Johns, menus are almost the same.

A large part of choosing a steakhouse is the atmosphere. Imo at least. Food quality is important but not paramount. No one is going to crescent city or Charlie’s for the quality of the steaks, for instance. The atmosphere at DVs is just not for me, whereas mr johns has that old school steakhouse feel.

My favorite, but I can understand if OP wants to try something new. Chophouse did look like it had a well rounded menu for a steak house.
