Really had a good lunch experience and felt compelled to post about it. Sandwich ingredients tasted fresh and the hot sourdough bread was spot on. The large amount of chips (and good quality) you get with their own brand was a nice surprise. The large-size cup was gigantic and they have the "good ice" (small cubes, like Cane's).

Seemed like a lot of medical professionals were stopping in for lunch, which should keep them on their game. Manager was hustling and the kid who took my order smiled and made eye contact with customers. Little things like that go a long way especially when the food is good.

Also looked like they put a lot of money into it. Interior was dressed up nice and the dining area was clean and colorful. Will be back.

I'm always amused by these chain reviews. I can never quite figure out if they're meant to be a joke or not.

Schlotzsky's is on the menu for me once a week here in Dallas. The combination of the sourdough bread and the olive cheese is perfection. Top every bite off with some hot sauce and I'm where I need to be.

They are pretty unique in the sandwich world. Both the bread and types of sandwiches.

I'd have them in my rotation more often if not for the prices. I think they've been around since the 70's, in Austin anyway.... FWIW.

One thing I noticed after moving to TX, the Schlotzsky's here have much better service and a higher quality experience overall.

It won't last at that location - people are going to get tired of fighting to cross Essen between 10a and 7p and quit going, especially for lunch breaks. I give them 2 years and they're gone. Mcallisters is much easier to get in and out of.

i give them less than 5yrs. And Im a fan of them. Its the location thats bad for them.

I went there to get a cinnabon the first day they opened and they were DEAD inside. Great cinnabon tho.

The only time i see them busy at all is during lunch time, but any other time outside lunch when I pass, they are absolutely dead.

My absolute favorite sandwich joint in town. I love the bread and melted cheese. I even like the olives on my sandwich and I hate olives. I get the turkey original every time. I want to try their breakfast, anyone tried it?

Scholotzsky's was started in 1971 by two people. Don't blame them that it became popular enough to expand to 300+ locations

Oh, I don't at all. Dick and Mac McDonald opened McDonald's BBQ in 1940. I eagerly await your review of the Government Street McDonald's when you have a chance. Details relating to atmosphere, quick lunch time accessibility and cuisine will be appreciated.

McDonald's sucks, but I've had just as bad at local joints. There are good and bad chains and there are good and bad local places. I'm probably the biggest Mr. Taco fanboy on this board and it is local to BR.
