Had dinner at Whisky Prime in Pass Christian this weekend and just wanted to give everyone a heads up that there's a new option on the coast for steaks. Serious steak but not totally traditional. It's located in the Whisky Hotel which is owned and operated by the guy who opened The Blind Tiger in BSL.

I didn't really come to write a detailed review, it's a premium steak house, but everything was really good and the space has a modern coastal theme. Great spot, check it out.

How do you think Whiskey Hotel will do? Seems very nice, but maybe on the high side for drinks and dinner. Just wondering if it would get enough consistent patronage to keep it up? I think its a good idea as many would like to visit the area and might not have a weekend house. Would fill the niche for some people.

I think the Bay Towne Inn in BSL is perpetually booked, and there a couple more boutique places planned for the near future. They even say an 80 room hotel is planned for the Pass...who knows how much this area can take? As long as they don't bring casino stuff into these small downtowns I'll be fine.

This place isn't for the TBT clientele, but there are very few tables so he doesn't need a ton of people to fill it up on the weekend.

I think there are 10-11 rooms in the hotel, we didn't your it though.

40 bucks is about what you would pay at Mr. Johns, SUllivan's, Flemings, etc.

I'll be happy to have a higher end place over there that is not a Bacchus restaurant. I think there is a market that was not catered to.

I'm assuming they'll serve it raw?

Yeh... Bacchus is good for what it is, but it isn't high end at any stretch. Ol Jordan has those frickers popping up all over the place.

Hope it's good though. I'd like to be able to get a good steak and not drive all the way to Biloxi when we visit the MIL.

I did get a pretty good hangar at the place in The White House the night before the MS half/full.

TG the owner of Whiskey had a nicer restaurant in Pass called Tigre's before the hurricane. It did well. The food at Whiskey will be good. He was originally a chef before becoming a dock bar tycoon.

Also looks like the Jourdan River Steamer rebuild is coming along nicely.

That stuff was incredible; their chargrilled oysters were as good as anywhere around, too
