How new we talking? Within the last 6 months or so:

BLDG 5 - Haven't been, but only heard great things
Mid City Beer Garden - They serve the old Chelsea's grilled cheese
Chow Yum Phat - Been in White Star Market, but now they have a brick and mortar restaurant
Rouj Creole - Good, but a little expensive for what it is
Bumsteers - Meh food, but on a good weather day, it can be nice.

Solera - Haven't been to this one either yet, but have heard its great. That location always seems to struggle though, hopefully they change the trend.
Rocca Pizza - Nicer pizza place, its good.
Jed's Local Poboys - Probably the best poboys in BR
Soji - Probably the best Asain food in BR
Blue Corn - I really liked this place for Mexican food. One of the better margaritas I've had in BR.

I'll second the BLDG 5 and Mid City Beer Garden recommendations.

And it's a chain, but I really like Jinya Ramen in Perkins Rowe. If you end up over at Perkins Rowe for a movie or after Christmas shopping, check it out.

Good food. Kinda hipsterish, but not really. Good lunch options.

Both great and would highly recommend.

Agreed. Wouldn’t go out of my way for it, but easy to eat there if going to the movies or Perkins Rowe.

I had low expectations for this place, but it was pretty good. Good drink selection and casual vibe. Will be back.

Only been once. Won’t be back. And I really wanted to like it. Very disappointing. Food was bad and vibe was generic.

Agreed. Great little lunch spot.

Ehhhhh. It’s so loud and hipster. And my food was okay and my wife got a salt bomb. It was inedible. I’ve heard mixed reviews and it seems like it really is luck of the draw when you go whether the food will be good or not. Add that to the snobbyness of the place and I avoid it now.

Been twice. Great the first time. Kinda ehh the second. I think the second was a fluke though. If you’re in BR though and want Mexican, just go to Superior.

Omi isn’t what it once was. 9 Dragon Noodle House is my go-to now. My vote for best Asian goes to Umami. Soji is too damn inconsistent. It’s hit or miss. Their sushi is top-notch, but overpriced. I don’t care for Chow Yum Phat, either. Best Mexican is Sahuayo in Gonzales.
