New Orleans Reveillon 2020

I am guessing Latoya is trending toward a shut down again and this year will be a no go. Has anyone heard anything or seen any menus show up yet?

Why would it be a no go? The first shut down did not prevent Coolinary menus. In fact, it resulted in extensions of Coolinary menus. Restaurants will be using all the marketing and discount ploys they can if in person dining is suspended, so why not Reveillon?

You must have missed the part where there was no dining in.

The nicer the meal the shittier the food was during takeout.

Problem is there's quite a few dishes that become disappointments done as takeout.
You want a good rare or medium rare filet? It'll be medium to medium well by the time you get home with it, unless you're just a block from the restaurant.
Nice fresh grilled fish? Will get soggyish by the time you're home. Chargrilled or raw oysters. Fried softball crab, etc.
Even simpler items like freshly fried buffalo wings don't do great sitting in a closed container while you drive 20 minutes in traffic back home.
It sucks for the restaurants, but we didn't do much takeout with the shutdown this past Spring. The bit we did was your typical burger or pizza. Maybe Mexican and Asian fried rice. I just didn't want to pay money for a really nice meal for the wife and I that wouldn't be the same when I got home with it sitting in containers. Would rather just cook it myself and have it hot and fresh off my stove or out the oven.

I did a ton of takeout the first time, usually one place a day, and that is exactly my experience.
The restaurants tried really hard and the result is hard to be critical of because of the circumstances, but I would imagine if it happens again I would probably just cook at home.

There were still Coolinary menus, they were just to go. There will still be Reveillon menus too. But it looks like they will also be to go soon.

Agreed. The one thing we really grabbed takeout of during lockdown was sushi. The place we like is a mile away, and something that is already served cold doesn't really lose its quality on the way home.

Tell that to the daiquiris I had to get from Jefferson Parish

One of the few places I saw take all this into account was Fleming’s in BR. The steaks would be seared but not cooked through and came with an instruction sheet detailing how long and at what temp to finish them in the oven once home. Also how to warm up the sides. More places need to get on board with that.

Those places are called grocery stores.

Yeah, Perry's in the Houston area was doing similar. You could swing by and pick up a couple raw steaks with sides with instructions on what to do.
I know businesses and especially their employees are struggling with this shutdown stuff, which is why when the wife and I went to Perry's a couple weeks ago to eat and drink in the bar area, we tipped the waitress beyond what we normally would for good service. However, I'm not picking up two raw steaks from a restaurant when HEB is selling prime at grocery store prices.
