Went to NYC last week, ate some amazing food (Italian, Chinese, Lebanese), but was really the first time I tried Korean food. I stayed on W 31 St, one block from Little Korea. Of the six nights we stayed, we ate there twice. Once at a multiple counter marketplace, and once at Plan B restaurant.

Plan B

The four of us each got something different at each restaurant, and shared. My favorite was probably the pork belly and kimchi fried rice. (First time ever trying kimchi)

A shout out to Da Nico’s in Little Italy as well. That was some amazing food

Any good Korean restaurants in BR?

OMG, they charge $40 for bulgogi?? I ate beef bulgogi every day for my free breakfast the Marriott in Seoul. Seriously, make a note to try some bulgogi ASAP.

Bulgogi
Bulgogi, literally "fire meat", is a gui made of thin, marinated slices of meat, most commonly beef, grilled on a barbecue or on a stove-top griddle. It is also often stir-fried in a pan in home cooking. Sirloin, rib eye or brisket are frequently used cuts of beef for the dish

Kogi is Metry is pretty good. Little Korea BBQ on magazine is my favorite of the two. Nothing in BR.

The closest is Volcano on Sherwood. I think the reason for no Koreans in BR is that the start up cost is pretty high. And you have to know what you’re doing because there’s a lot of prep involved.

Both of those places look pretty good. Especially Plan B. Glad you had a good time.

Korean food is very good and simple to make for the most part. You just need the specialized ingredients. Bulgolgi, kalbi, and dwaigigogi are good places to start.

Asian Supermarket on Florida is a great place to start for ingredients. There is also a Korean marker off of Highland that makes its own kimchi. Do some research and dive in!

Don't move to Lafayette. All you'll find in the way of Korean food is mostly the sound of crickets. There was a Korean restaurant on Johnston called Sunny's, which had great food, grill options, and a nice soju selection, while Hana was the other "Korean grill", both now permanently closed. Osaka does have two or three Korean menu items upon request, but it certainly doesn't qualify as a Korean restaurant.

Eating in New York gives you an appreciation of how really good food can be.

I make kimchi jiage at least once every fall/winter. A good friend introduced it to us years ago, and it’s so warm, spicy, delicious and easy to make. Bonus- if you cut the rice, it’s extremely low calorie and low carb. We at it with shiritaki (miracle) noodles and it was delicious.

Check out NolaKorea in Metry. It is a hole in the wall, but the food it really good. I think it is kind of new. Most of the people eating there were Korean the last two times I went FWIW.
