The Gourmet Butcher Block on the West Bank. That is where John Madden used to get his. We have gotten them from there on a few occasions for Christmas and they were a big hit.

Not my favorite……it was only ok…. I prefer either a stuffed baked turkey or a fried one………..

I'll take a boudin stuffed chicken all day.
What does this mean? Not even sure I could get boudin here in Alabama without having it shipped in. Just stuff a chicken with uncooked sausage and then grill?

Turducken is a disservice to all 3 birds. A heaping pile of meh on a plate. Would not hit it again.

You can order stuffed chicken from Chris's specialty meats. I get them shipped to Birmingham all the time

My 1st experience of this creation was the original from Hebert's in Maurice 25-30 years ago. When John Madden introduced the world to it the product just blew up. It was very good. I have had other versions that were simply bland and just ok, so it matters where you get one from. What I did discover was using all of the pan drippings in my post Thanksgiving Gumbo was MONEY!!! I value the drippings now more than the actual product.

Lol. these reviews from posters are all over the place.
Look, it's not the easiest thing to make but it is fun. Cooking it needs a thermometer (avoid dryness) and a drip pan w/mesh prop (avoid greasy pooling) and like I said strongly recommend a bacon weave to hold in moisture. The layers of seasoning or filler between the meats should vary. In fact, don't be afraid to hit it with a cajun injector too. I have not made a turducken with the same ingredients ever. I may make one for Christmas with the inner layer of sage & blueberry mixed Italian sausage and an outer later of cornbread dressing.
To me it's more of the experience of the prep & if you cook it right, it's hard to beat.
MeauxJeaux, there are several videos on line. I like Malcolm Reed get your ipad and go step by step. If you decide to make and/or cook one - take pics and let us know how it turns out. I wish I could have one this year. I'm just too busy to make it.

Every specialty cajun meat store in S. LA sells stuffed chickens. I'd try Best Stop, Bergerons, etc... You can google and find some that may have better shipping options.
Rouses has them too but not sure what their shipping abilities are.
