Going Saturday with a group of five guys all in mid 30s on a little bachelor party. Trying to decide if we want to eat something nice then hit the bars or just eat something at the bar. Looking at Whisky Prime Probably going to end up at triple tails and buoys. Is Whisky Prime steakhouse worth trying or should we just eat at the blind tiger right there by the bars?

200 North Beach looks good. We were recently checking places in that area but didn't end up going but looks good based on appearance and menu.

I enjoyed whiskey prime. Only complaint was lack of a good wine list

North Beach is good, so is Trapani's right by it, both across the street from the bars. frick the Blind Tiger for food, never had anything great there. Don't get oysters from anyplace if you are used to getting them here in Baton Rouge. They are almost microscopic.

If you aren't too hungover and want some breakfast, I'd recommend the Mockingbird Cafe or Buttercup. Both on the same street.

I've also heard good things about the Blue Bayou Bar & Grill inside the Silver Slipper for a steak, but I've never been myself.

That's tough, Whiskey Prime is good...but that IS the night. I'd stay in BSL if y'all are going out.

Cork & Cleaver is probably where I'd go in this instance. They have a big arse steak (and a filet), whole fish, fresh pasta, and kick arse pizza. Great, strong, drinks from real bartenders.

Cuz's for boiled shrimp or crawfish, or poboys.

Drink Freemason on tap where they have it.

Bouys and TTs will have crowds, but you have to stop into Gabby's for late night (or to kick it off before the crowds show up). Bodega is a nice new place if you want some bar food at any point.

Let me know if you anymore questions, I frequent the bars and restaurants too damn much.

I've seen some weird shite go down here. Was the spot when I would come home from college right after the hurricane. Later the better.

Also upstairs of Trapanis is a pretty nice little bar that is worth a stop for a drink and apps.

Might be spoiled with New Orleans places, but I wasn’t too impressed with C&C

We went down to the city last weekend to eat at N7, and I agree that no place over here has talented restaurant owners like NOLA has. C&C's pizza oven cooks well, and you can't go wrong with a whole fish or steak cooked in it. Expensive though. I usually just get a pizza. They have the best bar at place over here.

The Syc House is a bit stuffy for a bachelors party.

I frequent the Blind Tiger often and have never had anything bad there...just know that's it's a limited bar food menu with great wings, smoked tuna dip, fried pickles, etc. Dan B's & Triple Tails can be a good time if the right band is playing, but food is hit & miss. I'd stay away from Cuz's on a bachelor party.

BSL is a bachelor party destination now?

Granted I've only stayed Wed/Thur nights, but its always so quiet. I truly love the Baytown Inn though

Had lunch at Shaggy's Long Beach couple weeks ago and their raw oysters were almost to big to eat without cutting them. Cow tongues. Was talking to the manager and they have some special contract with a swla supplier.

There's a direct wholesaler in Pass Christian called Crystal Seas, and they always have great oysters. They sell boxes which are ~100 oysters or 30 or so lbs, for $40 usually, and they are cleaned, basically 'select' oysters. Not sure the restaurants use them, but they are a great option for locals. I think they sell sacks and shucked as well.

I live near Crystal Seas and saw the Drago's truck leaving there. Funny that Shaggy's buys their oysters from SWLA.

Bacchus uses canned seafood as well. Can throw a damn stone from the patio and hit the harbor.

Crazy, live AND irradiated...not sure how that works. That's not what we get.

We usually get a couple of boxes of in-shell and hurt ourselves with charbroiled preparations.

I was at a small dinner the other night and the guy had those Crystal Sea IQF oysters on the half shell and he was charbroiling them. Man they were good and he had a freezer full of them. He loved them for the convenience and I can say they held up fine. I’m going to get a box of them.
