Do you have a recipe for the lava cake? That sounds delicious. I made a chocolate cobbler once that was kinda like lava cake and really good

So far just pastalaya

As much as I love coffee, I don’t like tiramisu. Though I’ve only had it once and it was from the grocery store

Going out on a limb here and saying you might give it another shot.

Lava cake has to be hot out of the oven to do its “lava thing”.. but I agree it’s awesome. I made individual ones for a dinner recently.

I used Matty Matheson’s recipe.

Okay, so you’ve got a heavy, starchy entree. Think about light and fresh for dessert; citrus flavors can cut through the lingering tastes of the pastalaya.
—lemon icebox pie (a salted pretzel crust can be interesting, if you think lemon icebox pie is boring). Easy, make ahead, not individually shaped, so good for a crowd or a group with flexible numbers.
—lemon meringue pie (avoid if you’re a meringue novice)
—key lime pie
—a British style “lemon drizzle” cake

I’d be tempted to serve a coffee granita with whipped cream, but you already said you don’t like coffee.

Chilled fruit salad is another good conclusion for a heavy meal. Good peaches, fresh cherries, blackberries, chopped tart apple, blueberries, with a little mint and a squeeze of lemon juice.....

Or something very homey and old fashioned like an apple crisp.

I just posted a salad recipe in the recipe thread which goes really well with this type of entree. I service it a lot with spicier heavier dishes and it's a nice compliment.

I'm not a dessert maker, though I'm a dessert eater. I'm good with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and praline cookie. I have a recipe for praline cookies if you want it. They are easy, light, but addicting.

Sure. I usually make Commander's Garlic bread.

I can't get to my cookbook right now, but this is basically the recipe. What I do differently because I believe the original recipe says so, is to sprinkle the dill over the buttered bread rather than putting it in the butter. I like to make sure it's evenly distributed and I tend to use a little more dill. It will work either way and is delicious.

1 14-inch loaf of French bread
1/2 pound of butter
8 teaspoons minced garlic
2 teaspoons dry dill
1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F. In a small saucepan, heat the butter with the minced garlic. While the butter is melting, cut the French bread lengthwise and place on a baking sheet. When the butter has melted continue to heat until the garlic becomes fragrant. Add the dill to the garlic butter.

Brush the garlic butter onto the bread, this is your first layer. Sprinkle the cheese onto the bread. Dot the remaining garlic butter onto the bread.

Place the bread in the oven cook the bread for 15 to 18 minutes or until the bread begins to brown. Slice the bread and serve immediately.
