Going to be there all of next week on a work trip. Looking for casual-semi fancy dinner places mostly and good places to grab craft beers.
Staying near Vanderbilt University if that helps.

You will never eat better than Arnold's on S 8th. Just follow the line out of the door.

Looks like great soul food but I won't be able to make it for lunch. I'm working until around 6 everyday and lunch is catered by the clients. Looking for dinner recs only.

Semi Fancy
Urban Grub in 12 South
Fin and Pearl near The Gulch
The Southern next to the Symphony Building
Lockeland Table in East Nasvhille
Rolf and Daughters or Fifth & Taylor in Germantown
Gulch has several breweries to check out, Jackelope, Czanns, Yahoo, TN Brew Works
East Nashville has several as well
If you want to travel a bit, Black Abbey is about 10 minutes south of downtown in an industrial area.
Try Tailgate Beer or Fat Bottom just west of downtown in the Nations
Based upon where you are staying, dress nice and go have a drink at The Patterson House and grab a beer at Broadway Brewhouse.

This is eight months out of date for brewery information:
Yazoo, Jackalope, Czann's, and TN Brew Works are all within walking distance of one another. Yazoo usually has at least one funky beer on tap. TN Brew works has a really nice taproom setup and decent beer to go along with it and live music. Jackalope is so so - Not bad, but not great. I haven' ever been to Czann's taproom, and I haven't been real impressed with their beers I've had out and about. Hops and Crafts is right down there too, if you're looking for a craft beer place to drink.
Craft brewed is a mile or two down 8th from the Gulch and is a good spot to grab some drinks on the patio. Good bottle shop, but outside of the local stuff and a few midwest breweries, there isn't much that you can't get in LA.
Black Abbey Brewery isn't too much further away from Craft Brewed. It's small taproom in a giant brewery, but they make decent beer.
You have Southern Grist, Smith & Lentz, and East Nashville Brew Works. SG and S&L are both very solid. I haven't had any ENBW yet.
Bearded Iris is up in Germantown. I like their taproom and they make good NEIPAs Honky Tonk Brewery is a little further north in Metro Center. Decent beer. Meh taproom.
Turtle Anarchy, Fat Bottom, and Blackstone taprooms are on the west side. I'd rank them Blackstone > Turtle Anarchy > Fat Bottom.
I think Little Harpeth has a taproom, but I've never been. Lagers only, but solid lagers.
If you somehow find yourself in Franklin, there is Cool Springs Brew pub and Mantra. CSB is pretty underrated. I grab lunch there a good bit and they always have good beer flowing. Mantra makes some crazy shite and always has a wide selection on tap.

I'd normally recommend a brewery, but if you're here this Monday night, then go to Broadway - and I don't recommend that often. It will be wild down there.

Not a hockey fan so I totally forgot the Stanley cup would be going on. Yeah, I'll avoid that. Thanks for the heads up.

CMA Fest starts Thursday. I'd avoid downtown at all costs.
Everything in this city is fairly relaxed (jeans are pretty much acceptable anywhere).
Josephine
Rudy's
City House
Butcher and Bee
Lockeland Table
Bastion
Rolf & Daughter
Filling Station (12 South and East)
12 South Taproom
Craft Brewed
Hurry Back
Breweries: Bearded Iris, Southern Grist, Smith & Lentz

Unfortunately, that's exactly what's bringing me to town for work.
Appreciate the recs though! I'll report back with where I ended up.
