Yeah, I don't think it is a bad location at all. People in the area tend to flock to new options that don't require leaving Highland because it keeps you from having to go into traffic.
I eat at Tsunami, George's, and Superior far more than I would ever bother if they required travel into traffic. All 3 are just okay, but the convenience wins out quite often.

Its the reason I often went to Sammy's like three times week when they were good. It was the perfect little neighborhood bar and grill. Georges makes a fine burger but they dont compare to Sammy's in its heyday. Now a days I mostly hit Matherne's plate lunch line.

Not to hijack the thread, but has anyone been to Sammy’s lately? The parking lot always looks empty but I haven’t been in a while, usually just go to George’s for lunch now when I do go anywhere.
Excited to try Nammii, looks like they are making good progress

Yes. The food is OK. The biggest difference is that the service is terrible, like really bad. And the place is dirty with shite left on all the tables.

Why did China Taste close? They were there for a long time.

Its okay but I d rather get the same offerings(fried seafood poboy, burger, etc...) pretty much anywhere else. I still hit the old bar area for a drink every once in while for nostalgia.

I found it terrible. I would bet many others did too.

There’s also almost no restaurants of value past Highland towards the river until you get near LSU, so a lot of the neighborhood traffic on Burbank and Nicholson go to the first decent offerings on Highland

I wonder if the owner has any ties or recipes to Brian Nguyen, the owner of the former Taste of Asia. My lord the food they served up was nothing short of amazing, all Thai food I've had since then has been disappointing.

We must live close based on your comments. Apparently we know what terrible Chinese food is. The last time I ate there the rice was bright yellow. That was the last time for me

Taste of Asia was my favorite Asian restaurant in BR back in the day.. Everything was good - Thai, Vietnamese or Chinese

Anyone tried this one out yet? Planning to go soon but curious if it’s smart to wait and let the kinks work out.
