My go to under 20 bottles

Reds

Bonanza (15.99 at Zappardos can run up tot 27.99 if you go to Fresh Market like a chump)
NV from Charles Wagner. Very good. Cannot recommend this enough for an any day of the week wine. It’s like an always ready to drink Baby Caymus.

Pike Road Pinot Noir 15.99 at Total Wine. Willamette Valley Pinot.

M. Plouzeau Rice Gauche Chinon 15.99 at Martin’s but they haven’t had it ina. While. They also have a few good under 20 Argentinian Cab Francs.

White: honestly I’ll go super cheap here and still be happy.

Butter Chardonnay

The Pass Sauvignon Blanc - this is really good stuff.

Whatever they Muscadet is at Traders Joe’s.

I'll have to look for it. Whole Cluster and the Estate Pinot from them are really smooth.

2017 Bogle Petite Sirah I loved the 2016, and the 2017 is very close in quality. 88 points from Wine Enthusiast; 89 from Wilfred Wong

its ridiculous how good this wine is for the price.
one of the world's great gifts

Yeah Inhave never had their more expensive offering but for the price this is probably the best cheapest Pinot I can Think of.

I went to Paris on my honeymoon and came back wanted lighter Pinot Noir with more acidity. Like a lot of people I started Drinking Meiomi, Elouanand all the other Joe Wagner cheaper pinots and they tend to be bolder.

Looks like there aren’t any Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc fans on this thread.
I like them, as well as a few other New Zealand Sauv Blancs like Villa Maria. I do find, however, that their very distinctive taste is not as food friendly as some of the California and Chilean sauv blancs I tend to buy. But I do like them

Check out Fleur's Carneros Select Pinot. It's $15 at Goody Good in Dallas and it's the smoothest Pinot.

CWC Wine

Funny I just looked them up, they make several Pinots under $20 that I really like. I've had all 4 of the ones in this picture on the website. The Carneros is the best out of them.

My reliable go-tos for 30ish bucks or less:

Chateau Thivin Cote de Brouilly Beaujolais

Pretty much all of Ed Sandler's Pinots - he sells them in packs and they're all good. I buy some every year.

Rivers-Marie Sonoma Coast Pinot

Chappellet Mountain Cuvee

Ridge Three Valleys

Muga Rioja Reserva

Bonanza

Really wanted to like this. It’s too sweet. Kinda like Austin Hope’s Treana. Some great winemakers “b” stock just doesn’t add up.

I don't find it too sweet but I understand If you do. And I tend to avoid sweeter wines.

Drink Mostly Reds so can't comment too much on whites, all under $20:

St. Cosme Cotes du Rhone
Boucaner (Syrah/Pinot Noir Blend)
Etna Rosso Nerella Mascalese (that will skirt the $20 line)
Beaujolais Villages when it comes out
Agree on all the Spanish/Chilean values out there

Per Bonanza, cant get into it. Rides that Caymus name. Just a flat wine full of bulk who knows what.

My wife has always wanted to try Boucaner.

That may be my next bottle

I am also interested in people Recs for cheaper Cab. I find It really hard to get a good one under 20. Some ranging on unpalatable.

cheaper Cab

I bought a box Cab from Costco (their Kirkland brand) because the wife is pregnant and I usually don't drink a bottle by myself at the house. I like it. Probably wouldn't be something I would bring to a dinner party though.

Man I’m as awful of a human being as one can be when it comes to being a snobby cab wine drinker.

Spend the $5 extra bucks and get the kirklands stags leap district cab. It reminds me of Papillon which is $70 a bottle.
