The King Cake Ale is surprisingly good, I was honestly impressed with it both times I've tried it.
He'll be at the WYES beer festival in New Orleans June 21 & 22 with that beer and another.

From what I've heard is that he is the creator(he was actually my Biology Professor at Nicholls) and he has kept this going. He teamed up with someone in the Thibodaux area(the money behind the operation) and they are going to try and make it bigger and better. This is great for him because small breweries usually dont make it. I think with the right amount of publicity and making a great product this small brewery can do similar things to what CaneBreak has done in the Baton Rouge area and also what Donner-Peltier is doing in Thibodaux with their Vodkas and Rums.
They broke ground I believe on a building that they will call home. I'm excited for something like this to be in my area! Hope they make it!

I looked into that Beer Festival. I think I might try and go to that one. Looks like a good time. $30 dollars to drink Beer for 3 hours! Sounds like a good time to me!

Leith gave me a bottle of the King Cake Ale back in April, and it's really good. I was pleasantly surprised.
I've also tried his Cajun Stout, which is a stout with cayenne, and from what I remember, it was well done.

I had the king cake ale a few weeks back. The beer was fine but I could've done without the cinnamon sugar on the cup.

Yeah, kinda glad I had a bottle so I could pour it into my own glass at home. Not a fan of that stuff on the rim of a glass.

I would like to try it both ways.
Where can you get a bottle of it? I would love to try it!

Not entirely sure. Leith gave one to me at Chafunkta's release party back in April. I'm sure you can try it at WYES on June 22nd.

I had it at Bugs and Brew a few weeks back and had to wipe it off the rim. I understand what he's going for with that, but it predictably totally overpowers the beer. I think the beer has the potential to be commercially successful without maybe drawing the praise of the maven crowd. The flavors are such that I think it would have broad appeal and the marketing would be unbelievably simple, at least on a local level.

Definitely have to "make" it locally first.....I would love for it to get on the Cane Break level

FWIW its "Canebrake" not "Cane Break." Not being a grammar nazi, just throwing it out there.
