I think Addison, TX has something like one restaurant for every 80 residents.

Jimbeaux, as you will see on page two of the thread, there is evidence, but I will not say it is definitive, that Orleans Parish has more restaurants that people would consider fast food or chain per non-chain, non-fastfood than the surrounding parishes that make up the New Orleans Metro Area.

I read your post, and the numbers you've calculated based on the Fitzmorris information. I'm not prepared to dig into the numbers myself, but since you've already done so, I'd be really interested to see some actual lists of the restaurants that you/Fitzmorris ued in these calculations - especially the list of chain restaurants.

I can think of some Subways, McD's, and Burger Kings, and KFC's, but honestly, I when I try to think of chain restauarants that most Americans seem to enjoy as a little slices of suburbanite uniformity, I just can't think of that many within the city limits. You'd have to go out to Metairie where there are plenty. PF Changs, Outback, TGIFridays, Appleby's, Bennigans, Texas Roadhouse, Shoneys, Denny's, Waffle House, Taco Bell, Red Lobster, Ground Patti, Captain D's, Long John Silvers... These are staples in most American towns and cities, but uou just don't find them in N.O.

N.O. has some chains, of course, and no one denies that. N.O. is a pretty big tourist desitination, and you'd think we'd have more chains than the average town for that reason alone, but that's just not the case.

Now, some of the chains in N.O. are really Louisiana chains, which appeal to tourists and local alike in a different kind of way than the Americana national chains. Do your statistics count as chains any restaurants such as Landry's, Ralph and Kacoo's, Mike Anderson's, Don's Seafood, Louisiana Pizza Kitchen, Deanies, New Orleans Hamburger and Seafood, Cheesecake Bistro, or even Popeye's, which was originally a New Orleans based cahin?

Of the national chains that I can think of in N.O., it seems that more than usual they are very decentralized sorts of chains, with more variety regarding physical plant and menu - Superior Grill, Rotollo's, (is Slice even a national chain?), Gordon Biersch, Lucy's, etc.

I'm racking my brain to try to name some other National Chains in the city, and I just can't seem to think of any... Morton's...Bubba Gump... there's a couple more, but seriously, I'd love to see your list of national chain restaurants in New Orleans. Please point them out to me.

There's two more, except I thought Houston's had closed. One of the La Madeline's closed. Now it's just the one at Riverbend, correct?

Yep, that's one. I've never been. Is it doing well?

Regarding Starbucks, there's at least one in town on Maple, but have any others opened up? A typical American city will have two dozen Starbucks locations.

Do they count CC's Coffee Shops as a national chain?

Oh, I forgot about Smoothie King. That's a national chain.

National chain donut shops that NO LONGER exist in New Orleans: Krispy Kreme, Tastee, Dunkin Donuts that do in fact exist in Metairie.

We've got Blue Dot donuts on Canal. That's local, right? Can't think of any other donut shops.

yeah

I went to that Melting pot once, a few years back. I'm not sure how it does, the one in BR is top 5 for their company in terms of annual revenue.

Get out of the uptown mentality and think about the quarter for a second. Arby's, Wendy's, Ihop, Popeye's, Krystal, Subway all come to mind. Remember, the East and Lakeview are included in New Orleans.

Btw, there are 10 Starbucks in the city according to their website.

Fact is we place entirely too much belief that a single man cant be killed by another man without a massive conspiracy.

By the way weekend eats of Artz Bagelz, Company Burger, St. James, J'Anitas, and Jung's golden Dragon. Nice little weekend there.
