Jones, just curious, but what do you get at PF Changs? That place just plain sucks. The portions are extremely small, and prices are high.

I dont think its great but I dont ever really hear anyone praising it. I dont think the portions are really small but it is a little pricey. I dont think it fits the criteria of being overrated though.

Ok well you eat an obnoxious amount of food in a sitting.

Are some of these places overrated because of the quality or lack of quantity?

you just named places without listing reasons

Like I said before, I consider their entree sizes to be small. 2 of their entrees = 1 carry-out portion from any other Chinese restaurant in town.

If TWO bowls of soup, an entire full sized appetizer, TWO full plates of meat with TWO cups of steamed rice, and a dessert is enough for you by yourself only.. I fail to see how any restaurant on earth pleases you at all.

PF Chang's serves very normal portions.

Well yeah.. it's not Hot Wok. It's a sit-down mid-range restaurant.

I can get a Big Mac burger and fries and drink for $3.99 at McDonalds too.. but I don't expect to pay that at a burger restaurant.

I admit that I eat more than an average person. I also like to leave full, and I tend to order too much just to ensure that. I hate going to a restaurant, paying to eat, and still being hungry when I leave.

The restaurants I listed as overrated were based solely on quality.

Truth be told, I probably wouldn't eat the rice

And when I said 2 entrees from PF Changs = 1 entree from a carry-out joint, I was talking about portion size, not price.

I guess all I'm saying is that your statement that's it's more food than TWO people could possibly eat, is laughable.

Even though I don't care for PF Changs, if you're willing to pay the bill I'll be glad to go and show you that I can do it...

I believe you can eat it, but to claim it's not enough food for two normal people is crazy. You just admitted you eat more than other people.

I promise you that deal is plenty for any normal two people.

You must spend hundreds in fine dining establishments where plates are actually small to everyone.

Other than maybe Fleming's, in all my years on this board I don't think any of those have been constantly raved over here ir by people I know in BR.

What's your underrated list?

I'm ok with Changs. One of the better chains in town. Do think some people on here confuse food board opinion with general consensus. Lots of people tell me how great they think Walk-ons and TJ Ribs are. Not really the FB consensus though. Same applies to Mike Anderson's, Chimes and perhaps Dempsey's.

When I saw 'overrated,' I assumed F and D board opinions. No one here (i hope) gives trash like Mike Andersons and Walkons time of day as serious restaurants.

When I saw overrated, I assumed out in the real world rather than here. For the most part, I trust the opinions of the food and drink board. They've never steered me wrong, and the majority tend to have similar opinions as mine on restaurants.

When I think overrated, I think crap that people who don't care about food think is "amazing"..

For the purposes of this thread, I had to think F&D. Sorry to be a snob, but so many people in the LSU area/community have such non discerning taste in food that Wendy's would have been a possible answer

Haha no I totally agree with you!

Overrated in the sense of the general Baton Rouge population = shitty places.

Overrated on the board is just overrated.. Not necessarily bad.

I'll have to think of some places I find overrated here. I generally like the same places that most here like. Although I hate me some Pinetta's..

And I have never had a bad Little Village experience even though the board hates it.
