It would definitely work in the right place. Drive past Bonefish and see how packed it is every night. All of the "nicer" dining restaurants that I can think of are all consistently full every night. I had dinner at Chateau Du Lac over the weekend. Not an empty table anywhere and all the seats at the bar were taken as well. Saw many people come in looking to just sit at the bar and have a drink.

There is probably just as much money in Metairie as there is New Orleans per capita, or more likely, much more.

I don't see any reason why Metairie couldn't sustain a couple of upscale bars.

Yep.
When I want to go have drinks with my wife in the evening in Metairie, that is the kind of place we end up. Chateau Du Lac is excellent for this.

There really aren't any nice bars in Metaire and yes I think something like a mix between the Bulldog and Monkey Hill would work I know a pure wine bar or fancy cocktail bar alone probably wouldn't work, but something a step below would be fine.

I'll say if I was a tad older (no offense or anything) and lived in that area, I'd go there to grab a glass of wine pretty frequently.

There are a lot of people like me, late 20s, early 30s living in the area who want a close place to hang out (not a club) when we are being too lazy to go into the city.

Have you been there? That's actually close to me (don't stalk me people!). For some reason, I thought that was a lesbian bar.

Yeah a couple of times. Not my first choice of places in the area (but don't pay me any mind, I like geriatric bars that are full of smoke and old racist white people)

I'm pretty sure they have some ladies night special on Thursdays or something where you get free drinks.

Check it out, you might like it.

I went twice several years ago to see the Top Cats play. Major cougar hangout that night. A young single guy could have done well there.

Yeah, that is what I was thinking as well.

Yep. But there is so much riff raff in Metairie. I guess they all have their own places though and may stay out of a nicer place.

As mentioned earlier, Oscar's and Winston's are great places. Wish there were more like that. They don't get much riff raff but that's probably because they are in Old Metairie.

and I'm ok with that on certain nights or even when I'm looking for a place to watch a game...I expect that.

I was in there over the weekend too. It wasn't too bad. Yeah, somewhat smoky but it was also mostly empty.
