where are some casual dining places I must hit up next week while in Memphis? I will be by Christian Brothers University working out HS basketball players so if you can help me as to where to dine in at I would love some answers.

you need to be careful and not venture too far south on airways.

there is a place on central one block west of CBU called Central BBQ. It has become a favorite among locals.

The Cooper Young district is about 5 minutes away and will have more choices than you have time.

Gus's is good for fried chicken but is a 15-20 minute drive downtown.

BBQ Shop on Madison (midtown) is great BBQ, as is Rendezvous downtown. Hueys is a fun burger/cheese fries place. Also, for something fast, there is a greek deli on Madison called Kwik Chek that has some of my favorite sandwiches.

Thanks for all your suggestions, now, my tuesday night I will be getting in to Memphis at about 10 or so, where is a good place to go coming up from Jackson? Also, on wednesday, I would like a cheap lunch that is still very good and then a great dinner. I have it pretty much set, I must do the BBQ place

Go to Cozy Corner BBQ for lunch. You will not be disappointed. It's a must for anyone going to Memphis.
The rib tips plate is fantastic.
Try their bbq spaghetti as one of your sides.
You'll be stuffed for $10.
Central BBQ is very good too.
Rendezvous is for the tourist. Skip it and go for the good stuff.

it's good to see the bbq shop getting props in this thread. I have stated repeatedly on this board that I think it is the best bbq joint in memphis. Central BBQ is a close second.

If you're looking for a good casual place to eat downtown, try the Kooky Kanuk across the street from the Peabody. Also, check out Bardog for a good casual bar that's not on beale street.

eta: if you're staying close to CBU, then go to cooper young district. Young Avenue Deli in cooper young is a good casual bar whose french fries were written up in the USA Today as some of the best in the country

Definitely the Kooky Kanuck Big Foot Lodge. If Alexis is the bartender I guarantee you a free drink if you mention it was recommended by Blueslover in Baton Rouge.

Great BBQ all over, another small neighborhood favorite of mine is 3 Little Pigs, 5145 Quince.
