My wife and I live in Tupelo,Ms. now and go to Memphis often to eat out, like we used to go to New Orleans. We like Corky's the most and The Rondevous, Central BBQ, and Interstate BBQ also.

Their ribs are not good...at all. It always amazes me how many folks recommend the commissary. That place is wayyy down on most folks list of bbq joints in Memphis.

For bbq - central and bbq shop are the top 2 in Memphis. Maybe cozy corner too. Rendezvous is good for the experience/atmosphere, but the food is not great.

Obviously go to Gus's. It's as good as everyone says.

Non bbq - Hog & Hominy or second line for casual.

Really any Andrew/Michael (Hog, porcellinos, A/M) or kelly English (iris/second line) restaurant is gonna be good.

I recommended it, I usually don't get ribs. I guess that's why I find most of Memphis BBQ extremely overrated. Germantown does other things pretty good though.

I am not a fan of central, interstate, or rendezvous.

Rendezvous the one that's in a basement or something? I think I went there years ago and remember it having a cool old feel to it...I think.

My list:

BBQ-Barbecue Shop or Blues City Cafe for ribs if you only have one chance at Q. Cozy Corner - get the barbecued Cornish Game Hen.

Non-Q:
Wife loved dinner at Automatic Slim's.
Fried Chicken at Gus. Must do. Dip it in Ranch Dressing.
Breakfast at Brother Juniper's near the University.
Tops Barbecue - Don't get the Q. Get the cheeseburger.
Buckley's - good steaks.
The E's diners are good for breakfast.
Soufish Grill. Smoked Chicken wings and fried okra. Good lunch place.
