Meat selections at Costco

I don't know if signing up for a membership purely for meat selection is a great idea. If you have a family, then the bulk purchasing of everything is worth it. The meat quality is good. Some Costco's even have prime grade for cheap.
If you're purely worried about meat, stick with the local supermarket or go to a butcher.

yeah, I'm not a bulk shopper. I buy as I need. I usually go to grocery shopping 15 times a month.

Even if you're well to do, I'd say it's a waste if you're just doing day-to-day shopping. If anything, find a friend who has a membership and go with them.

For the meat? No.
For the Polish sausage hot dog thingy and a 20 oz drink (with refills) for $1.50? Yes.

Their meat selection is very good... Every one I've been to carried prime beef. The $5 rotisserie chickens and Kirkland brand items are worth the $55 membership to me. We save a lot more than that buying restaurant and movie gift cards at discounted prices as well.
As someone just mentioned, the Polish dog and a drink combo is awesome for $1.50, but you don't have to be a member to purchase anything from the food court.

The butter ball lean ground turkey is excellent too. 4 - 1.5lb packs for about $18.

Do you have a foodsaver? I go to Sam's a couple times a year and load up on meat. I come home and portion it out in foodsavers and freeze it. I save a good bit of money even when you factor in foodsaver costs. My membership is free through work, but I'd imagine I'd still be ahead even with the additional $45 membership.

CostCo is worth the price because of the quality. You are not going to save much money at CostCo unless you're going to places like Whole Foods for your groceries.

^^At the NOLA Costco, the snack bar is outside & open to the public. You don't need a membership to eat cheap hot dogs, pizza, etc.

It is worth it for their tires.
Their meat quality is good, but IMO, you can find just as good deals on good quality meat in some local stores.

Picked up some Choice ribeyes @ $8.99/lb @ CostCo. Haven't seen anywhere close to that.

I had a Costco Membership last year, but I couldn't justify passing two Sams to go to Costco, and I think I only spent $300 ther all year, not counting tires, vacation or the checks I ordered through them.
I am waiting to see if the Rumors of a Kenner Costco pan out.

Also, Costco has great prices on certain items...if you like the LaBrea bakery breads sold at Whole Foods & other stores, you can buy 2 loaves for the price of 1 at Costco. Enjoy Boursin, the french soft cheese? WalMart & others sell a single round for $4; Costco sells three rounds for $5.
Those are just a couple of things I routinely buy at Costco that make the membership worthwhile.

I think Albertson's had it for $6.99 last week, probably during their 3 day weekend sale. I know they had T-bones for $6.99 this weekend, because I bought a couple.
