I have mayhaw trees in my flower beds in the yard. You don't have to plant them in low areas. They grow in low areas because the berries float and that's how they spread.

Mayhaw jelly is the best! Hardly anybody outside of LA has ever heard of it but I've managed to indoctrinate a few people out here in CO to the superiority of the mayhaw when it comes to jelly.
