Scored one on sale this week and looking for feedback and anything I should be aware of. Put it together and will season it in the AM to get her ready for Gameday. Any positive or negative reviews is appreciated and any cooking advice is much appreciated. Could not pass the deal up that included the griddle attachment. Geaux Tigers!

I’ve had one for about six months and picked it up as a second grill for larger cuts and like you said the griddle, couldn’t pass that up
But I’ve really enjoyed cooking on it and haven’t had any issues at all
As for any pros/cons I’d say
It’s temperature range 150 to 700
The cast iron grilled grapes/griddle it comes are really heavy duty and will out last the grill
The hopper will hold a large bag of charcoal and burn for around 16 hours at 250*
If I had any complaints it would be the probe it comes with is cheap , you’ll definitely wanna use one of better quality
The MB app has connectivity issues at times but overall not awful
It’s a great grill for the price, not sure I’d want it as my only grill, the metal I don’t believe will last more than a couple years if used a couple times a week and even with that said I’ll just buy another one if that happens
Ohhh definitely pick up the cover it’s well made also
Smoke away!

I got the bigger one earlier in the summer. I have a couple pellet smokers and was looking for something different. Thing works great and has a ton of room. The connectivity issues with the app is the only negative that I have had with it.

Appreciate the feedback as I have a Weber, and a Traeger, but saw this out a couple of years ago and always wanted one. Just curious if you guys with experience find yourself smoking with it more or cooking at higher temps? Also, curious to see how the barks come out on brisket and pork butts. Only other question is cleaning the inside of it and do you just let the drippings collect in the bottom of the grease pan? Cheers to a good first smoke on Gameday!! Go Tigers.

For me it’s just used for bigger cuts to smoke but if you crank it to 700 it’ll put a hell of a sear on a steak
and I use the middle rack and pans underneath it to collect any drippings and help with flare ups on long cooks
And no issues with getting anice bark
I’ll find some pics of recent cooks and post them

Its a real smoker, in the sense that you can run only wood if you want. Makes as good a food as any other stick burner, no problems with getting a great bark. That said its not the best quality build but at its price point if it last 3-5 good years its a great deal.
I mainly smoke with mine, I don't use a pan and cover the manifold with foil but thinking about getting the mod manifold cover with pan brackets. Great for searing but will flame up quickly so be careful. I've never had a flare up when smoking since the temp is so low, but occasionally get flares when grilling chicken at 375 or 400. I try to do controlled burns after each time I use it.

Good to hear as not off to a great start with it as the control panel shuts off once I close the doors and if it doesn’t, the fan will not kick on. It’s gotta be something simple(I hope), that I’m over looking, but emailed customer service and hoping for a reply. Getting 2 codes, that the instructions say they are not error codes. Trying process of elimination but having no luck.

I stopped by Walmart this morning and they had 2 Masterbuilt 800s left on clearance for 347. A buddy and I went back tonight and they were still there so we bought them. Looking forward to getting it assembled and trying it out.

I have had my 800 for 2 years now. No problems. I keep it covered and it looks new still.
To be honest, I haven’t used my kettle or WSM since I got it. It’s just too easy

I have the 1050. Only issue I've had (and I've heard of others having this problem) is the pop-up shut off button on the lid. When I closed the lid the board didn't recognize it and wouldn't kick back on. I've read of people disconnecting the two wires on the backside of the buttons and just wiring them together to create a closed loop, thus eliminating the problem. My fix was to just take a small flathead and push the button down and pin it under the lip and my problem went away. I've got 6 different pits and by far use this one the most.

some of the contact sensors are glitchy. i bypassed the door one. you can reach under there and pull it out. just jump the two wires together. if you do this, just be careful as it won't cut fan when you open the door. at high heat you may be a fireball

Love mine. Only had two issues so far. On one cook, it simply stopped working. Turned out the fan was stuck by a tiny piece of charcoal. One tap with a butter knife and it started back up. The other involved lots of smoke exiting the top of the hopper. I bought an aftermarket lid and that fixed the issue.
If you do a bunch of consecutive slow cooks, you may want to turn the heat up really high from time t time. I did not, and the whole damn thig looked like it was on fire.
