The process was to make the restaurant a bit more universally available. Still have the piano, but tone down the overly white tablecloth. The primary thing was still being able to do really good food and nice cuisine without making it too stuffy of a place. The old place had its atmosphere and I dined there but never worked there. This location was one of my favorite lunch spots when I worked elsewhere in the area. And we can do a great tasting menu for a group if requestsed ahead of time. Ive seen some fantastic meals put out of there for some smaller private dinners.

Shaggy, is that you.

you can get a table in the bar (you can reserve in there, as well)for a casual night out with very good food or just a few rounds of oysters and cocktails in addition to the full menu. Watch a game while you eat and visit.
This appeals to me alot (especially reserved seating). I do not eat oysters but several of the couples we go out with love chargrilled as an appetizer. I am reluctant to order fish out (never order steak) because when it is bad it is really bad usually. I stick to vegetarian menus mostly. But I would be willing to try the fish on recommendation because if it is as good as you say that would be a wonderful thing.

Me too. I've eaten at a table reserved in the bar more than in the main part of the restaurant, lately. I like the casual feel and watching them grill the oysters. It's what I call "easy fine dining".

I've never gotten a fish dish there that was even close to being bad. I've found the quality to be very good. The cedar roasted red fish is their specialty and it's always been fresh tasting to me and I will not eat fish if I remotely detect anything funky. If Mansur's was putting out such a product, we'd have heard about it here, for sure.

I'm not saying the food it out of this world, but it's very good and always solid. The menu isn't huge, but there are usually specials and I've always been offered the "visiting fresh fish".

Give it a try.

Of course they would know who it is.

Before shaggy was old enough to buy wine he already knew more than most who consider themselves knowledgeable on the subject. The nice thing is that he learns your palate, and makes selections that are spot on.

I really need to get back there!

Shaggy, are you going to NOFE later this month?

You know better. I found a deal on the Roosevelt at $175 a night for Fri and Sat. Booked Stella! 3 weeks ago since I missed out last year a month in advance and the year before. I plan ahead to drop a good bit of change in Nola for this event every year.

I'll bring a couple good bottles down with me. Probably won't bring one to Stella! They have a more than adequate selection. Can't decide on whether to do the tasting menu either. Made our own tasting menu at August last year with hot and cold apps, salad, entrees, and desserts with a bottle of vino and a cocktail before. I spent $350-400 that night with tip.

You have to do the tasting menu at Stella . Better bring a little more cash than that though.

trust me i know. $125 for the starter tasting menu and $95 for the wine pairing. I won't be doing the caviar. So 500-600 max for the whole thing done completely.

The point is when your spending that much money the least they can do is cut my cake. They don't even have to do that. We can cut it ourselves.

YOURE missing the point. the point of a restaurant is to sell THEIR product, not for said restaurant to LOSE out on dessert sales, then have to clean your extra plates, silverware, etc. Each dishwasher cycle costs at minimum $.50/cycle.
I think youre in over your head on this topic GBFTL. Like others have said, if you dont like it, youre more than welcome to go "dine" at applebees or the like

He actually came to his senses in the end and admitted his inexperience with the issue.
