Will be spending the night and probably returning home shortly after lunch on Thursday

Where would be a good spot to grab a few beers and get some food around happy hour time?

Seems to be a consensus on this place

Is it because of food or the bar atmosphere?

So let's say I get something to eat and want to go to a more pure bar atmosphere

Where would you recommend?

Something for older folks like me (mid 30s)

Yes.

Just go there to eat and drink.

If you want to eat at one place and drink at another, check out Pamplona and Ruffinos. Though if I'm there for one night like you looking for a few drinks in a cool sexy place with a great menu, I'm going to Social.

Last time I was there we shared the pork belly sliders and I ordered the rabbit pappardelle which was really good. I think I was drinking a $2 domestic during happy hour, but they do have a quality beer selection.
