Makers Mark 46 was introduced pretty recently, its a new blend thats aged with extra oak staves. I'm a bourbon guy and can assure you if you like bourbon you'll love it. All the best things about Makers Mark, but better...94 Proof and drinks beautifully, a nice vanilla/oak taste. Its for the guy who drinks his bourbon on the rocks, it would be a shame to mix it with anything. Bottles normally run $35-40 each in my area..

I've never seen, much less shopped at, a costco.

wish I could find it in my area for that price...I'd like to try it out...

one question...you say that it is aged with extra oak staves....are you saying they just put extra boards in the barrel before they seal it up?....

Correct, its my understanding that additional charred oak staves are added to the barrel before sealing.

There are no Costco stores in Louisiana. Houston has 3. It is the same concept as Sam's club but about 25% better in quality and prices. I used to be a Sams club member but one visit to Costco ended that. The best way I can describe it is that Costco is one of those stores where it just feels right to be a customer.

One of costco's best feature is a very iberal return policy that even includes their most expensive electronics.

they age it like they do normal Makers, then take the top off the barrel and add 10 more staves. Put the top back on and age it a few more months.

Costco is like a Sams Club, but a lot nicer.

I've stated here for years.BR's three biggest chain needs are a Costco, Panera, and Sweet Tomato.

Followed by Chipotle, Baja Fresh/Rubios, Potbelly, Smashburger, etc..

I'm sure Sam's Club is the same way, but the amount of money you save on Gas going to Costco is worth he membership fee.

It's always 20 to 30 cents cheaper per gallon than other area gas stations.

But back on thread.

Maker's 46 is delicious. I'll be going to Costco sometime this week to get a bottle for opening weekend of CFB.

A friend of mine who works in the liquore biz told me that Makers only made 25,000 cases of the Makers 46. With only 6 bottles per case he told me to buy all I can because it wont be on the shelf for long.

I'm sure Makers will blend more if demand necessitates it. But in the meantime, I'm stocking up especially at this price..

For those interested, Albertsons on College has it for $35. Just poured my first...well worth it IMO.
