Made a tomato pie this morning

Got up and went to the Farmer’s Market this morning to get ingredients for tomato pie. I was disappointed that all I found was tomatoes, so I went to the store for green onion, basil, biscuits and cheese
Pressed the biscuits in the pie plate and set them on 350 for 5-7 minutes until they begin to rise
Sliced the tomatoes thin, then layered them with basil, green onion, salt, pepper and garlic. Topped with mixture of mayo and shredded cheddar.
Oven pic
Cook at 350 until Cheese starts to turn brown- about 30 minutes or so
Out of the oven and letting it rest
I cut a slice too soon, so it was a little runny, but it was still delicious
The rest of the pie

Figured this would be a thread about NOLA or North LA gumbo.

Looks good. For some reason makes me think of Bob the Teribble's mustard and pickle pie lol

Been making small ones all week. So many people have wanted to try it and we have gotten only rave reviews...........and many requests for more. Don't use biscuits though. I use pie dough. Looks Great!! Would love to try yours.

Nah. There's not enough grape jam.

I got the recipe from a friend, and the biscuits are kind of a lot- delicious, but take up a lot of room. I may try a version with pie crust and see how I like it.
I had never heard of tomato pie until a year or so ago, and even then it didn’t sound that great until he brought me a slice. Then I started seeing people post about it on Facebook. They’re really good!

I love tomato pie. My mom makes one with a recipe she got out of a Southern Living magazine that is amazing. Fresh sliced green onion after cooking sets it off
