I'm a proud fanboy of this place. Some of the best food in Baton Rouge, imo. Here's what I had!
Trio Nigiri (wagyu, uni, and caviar):
Mushroom trio (I could eat a bucket of this. Vermicelli noodles, soy, and spring onion.):
Sashimi sampler (salmon, tuna, mackerel, sardines(?), something else, and shrimp):
And lastly, grilled filet and bone marrow. So, so good:
Talked with the owner, Cong. Super good guy and very nice. One thing about this place is you never want salt or pepper as everything is seasoned perfectly. A little soy for the sashimi was all that was needed.
Love this place, and plan on doing their omakase with my bestie for my birthday.

Best sushi in BR.
He puts out some killer food. We go about twice a year and wreck shop but hit up happy hour often as well. 2 for 1 drinks and some small plates

Looks pretty good but I could do without the farmed salmon

Did you buy tickets to the Umamikase they’re doing August 10? Sounds legit.

I didn't. I only have so much money, lol.
Umami and Ruth's are my splurge places when I want to get my feast on. Happens once every two or three weeks but I love them both. I fasted for 24 hours before devouring that lunch.

I hear ya. I really want to go, but my appetite is on the small side and it’s 14 courses.
I want to try the thing in that first pic you posted. I also want to try the uni+caviar rice
Here’s some of my pics:

Those are amazing LL. What's the second picture called? Looks fire AF.

That’s actually just the amount of nigiri we ordered at once
Like Jones said, we go balls to the wall probably twice a year there.
We tend to not spend more than $100 the other times.

Place is great. We love it.
When they had their gift card special, the lady and I loaded up on them.

I'm going to drag my friend up there for happy hour and small plates. He wants to, but wife and kid.

It was all the nigiri on the daily menu. I'd have to look at the old thread to name them though

It isn't that much of an issue. Don't trouble yourself.

Do people usually request salt and pepper in Br? Even at sushi restaurants?
I can’t recall the last time I asked for either except for some fresh cracked black pepper on a salad. I think the cooks in nola can season their meals properly.

The happy hour menu isn’t anything wildly creative, but it’s a good deal at $4/per. Sometimes I just want sushi and don’t care if it’s a simple salmon roll or crunchy roll. Can go there and have 2 rolls and 2 glasses of wine for $15:

I think it was just a harmless comment
I'd put Umami against any sushi in NOLA fwiw
Your posting has been very subpar since being reinstated

I didn’t get the comment. Sushi looks legit.
I haven’t been out to eat in br since Katrina. I just don’t go there much except for baseball and football games.
Upvote for the subpar grade.

Christ you're a bitter fricking count. Enjoy your miserable existence in NOLA. Maybe one day you'll be cool enough to satisfy yourself.
