Coming through tomorrow, buddy of mine said a roast beef sandwich at cooter browns is that a legit stop.

Why do you think your buddy would lie to you?

Your friend has...limited knowledge.
Parkway Bakery if you want a Roast Beef Poboy, no doubt. Some would also argue Tracey's, R&O's, or Domilise's.
There are much better options for lunch, but if you specifically want a Poboy (not a sandwich...) those are the places to go.

I'd rather have a meal personally. Any tips will be aprreciated.

Most "meal" type places are going to be brunch tomorrow.
I'd go to Atchafalaya for brunch, hands down. Great drinks, make your own bloody mary bar, great food, live music. After that, maybe Stanley in the FQ.
For a "sandwich", Cochon Butcher.

These are all excellent choices if you want to keep your friend happy and allow him to get his roast beef po-boy.
