Would you consider Mr Johns in new orleans a steakhouse or a high-end fine dining place?

I find Little Village to be very close to the same setup as Mr Johns.. An Italian place that is likely the best steakhouse in the city.

Steakhouse, with other aspects.

As I understand the place, I'd never characterize it as a "steakhouse."

It is expensive, however, their habanero sauce on anything is worth it. That stuff is delicious.

its all relative....

no, i am sure little village is not approaching the quality of said places in new york.....

but it is top of the line, in my opinion, of what you can get in BR

But, that's my point. They seemingly don't approach their pricing as if it's "all relative" AT ALL.

You are missing my point:

If its one of the best steaks in town - served with a side and a salad for $40-50 (this is ONLY if you get the steak special) - how much u gonna pay at Ruth's or Flemings for the same? That price - $30 for the meat, $9 for the oscar/crabmeat/shrimp, $8 for a side, $8 for a salad.

If your like Catman - and just order the Ribeye (which is excellent, I might add - on par or better than Flemings or Ruths) - its $28 - you are spending $30 and gettin a better meal than Baton Rouge's "best" offering of steakhouses.

So its all relative to what the "best" steak meals in BR would be....and their prices are on par (sometimes less) than their steak competition.

This post began as suggestions at Little Village - their steak special, to me, is one of the best meals in this town - I cannot go anywhere around here and get the quality of meal for $50.
