This could be fun. Give us the next one in plenty of time to get the stuff during grocery challenged times.
If it's ok, I'll start by recycling an old one. I am old school and my mom's recipe was common folks simple, but I like it, so here it is.
Need:
1 1/2 pounds ground beef – Some will mix ground veal and ground pork with the ground beef
1/2 cup Oatmeal – some will substitute crumbled crackers or bread crumbs
1 egg
1 medium onion small diced
1/4 to 1/2 cup green bell pepper – small diced
2 teaspoons Worchester sauce
2 teaspoons Garlic Salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 - 1 cup Ketchup
Add all ingredients (except ketchup) to a bowl
Mix well (I use my hands) and then form into a loaf. I like a 3-4 inch tall loaf, maybe 6 inches wide;
Place on a foil lined oven pan.
Cook at 350 degrees F, for approximately 40-60 minutes, until a thermometer, inserted into the thickest part of the loaf shows an internal temperature of 150 – 155 degrees F. At this point, add however much ketchup you like to the top of your loaf. I like a lot.
Then cook the loaf for 10-15 minutes to set the ketchup. Be certain the loaf has reached 155 – 160 degrees F before removing the loaf from the oven.
Remove and allow to rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
Eat:
Always make enough for leftover meatloaf sandwiches
I think this is correct. I'll edit it if needed.
