Just got these in the mail today. Great 30 minute smoke when sitting outside on these hot summer evenings.

Short stories are excellent smokes indeed!

I think I need a lesson on toasting. The last few I’ve lit up burned terribly uneven, and I think I charred them while toasting.
How long does the toast usually take you to complete? Am I rushing it maybe?

I only know whats worked for me through trial and error. I genuinely don’t know the proper way because mine varies depending on the torch or lighter i’m using.
With that being said; Be sure you’re toasting just the face of the cigar, and not singeing the edges before your final puff & lighting.
I toast for about 10-20 seconds but it’s not constant. I toast and pull back and toast and pull back. More of a slight kiss than a constant torch. I’m looking for a nice even flat toast across the face.
Not sure if any of that makes sense.

There are actual videos on how to do this, lol! Very informative, nonetheless.
I usually rotate the cigar while toasting just until some smoke starts to appear, never allowing the flame to directly touch the end of the cigar. There is a line of thought to cut the cigar after toasting and I have used this method on occasion. Once toasted and clipped, I again place the flame under, but not touching, the cigar, and start drawing in while rotating. Any part of the lit end that does not glow gets a quick flame kiss. I use a small torch lighter, clean flame or wooden matches.

So I bought a box of 25 Arturo Fuentes in the duty free at the airport. It was actually very nice and in a humidor room so I’m hoping I didn’t get counterfeits. But oh well, only $150. I couldn’t resist. But now I’m reading that they won’t last past 2 weeks and still be good if I don’t put them in a humidor. No way I can smoke all these in 2 weeks. I didn’t want to rush into buying a humidor just yet. Is there a “DIY” way I can store them until I figure all that out and really get into the game?

Tupperware and boveda packs. I was failing miserably keeping my humidor properly humidified, and the experts on this thread lead me to the tupperware method. Is it fancy and flashy like a humidor? No, nor does it need to be. It works and that's all that mattered to me.

I keep all my boxes in this container from Walmart.
With a Boveda 320g
All my singles, I keep in a Rubbermaid
Whatever one you buy, make sure it has a gasket so it’ll keep a seal.
I have 2 wood humidors, but I only use it for when I have people over at the house.

Happy Friday gents!
Was gifted this bad boy a few months ago and had to break it out tonight with a little Havana Club.

The best option when just getting into cigar storing is the tupperware method described above. It is a solid and almost foolproof method. I've moved on to a DIY wineador and worked through some humidity regulation issues, but have it dialed in. The Wineador is a basically sealed unit, much like a plastic tub, just with a condensing unit having the ability to keep the temperature range more suited for long term storage.
