Tonight, I was at Walmart looking for a decent bottle of scotch. Oxymoron I know.

An older gentlemen saw me reaching for J Walk, black mind you, and steered me towards a bottle of Chivas Regal. It's blended but I've never tried it. They're charging $31. Johnny is going for $35 (rip off by the way, Raj gives it to me for $18 most of the time).

Thoughts on the Chivas Regal? I'm going to try it in a bit. By rule, no scotch before 8. It's a gentlemen's drink.

I mean, I like woodford. Don't know if you an get it at walmart. Don't really go there.

Cask no. 16 is like a cognac based bourbon it's pretty good. I don't know anything about what that guy recommended but if you're going to pay around $30 one isn't that much better than the other.

Chives is a good house scotch for a nicer restaurant

I prefer single malts, and particularly glenlivets

My favorite but you're talking $70 for a regular size bottle. The smaller one is in the 40s. I used to buy it on the Reg. Some places charge $80 or so for the regular bigger bottle

Yeah I mean crown is the go to if you're looking for that price. Woodford reserve, makers mark, and knob creek are the best for the "step up" bourbon. But the really good special occasion scotch is much more.

Chivas is underrated. My dad drinks nothing but Chivas and Glenfiddich.

We lived in Aberdeen when I was a kid and we toured a bunch of Scotch distilleries. I wish I was old enough to appreciate it then.

Glenlivets...been wanting to try it bit $40 is steep for me when it comes to scotch. I'll pay through the roof for Bourbon though, my fav. I'm not saying it makes logical sense.

I'm a blend snob, but I'd never choose chivas over JW and do yourself a favor and get green label instead of black, it's reasonably priced for what it is.

Also, Port Royal has good selection and VERY affordable, none of that $25 a glass of high end.

I've drank more J Walk than you did milk from your mothers tit. I wanted to try something new and I'm unfamiliar with blended scotch.

Really? I think Chivas is far better than black or red.

I also like Cutty Sark for cheap scotch...

Red is absolutely horrible but the richest man I know only drinks JW Red. Swear. Strangest thing I've ever seen.

Get you a glass of 12 or 20 next time you go to a restaurant. 20 is smoother noticeably, but 24 isn't much different than 20 IMO.

But I usually stick with 12.
