The Sushi restraunt at Paris isn't bad. Jimmy Buffet's Magaritaville (also close to Paris) is a cool place to eat, especially if a band is playing. Priced well, but not a five star restraunt... obviously.

Lotus of Siam is the best Thai restaurant I have found. It is located on Sahara just north of the Strip. LINK

Just looking at the menu makes me want to visit Las Vegas again.

Second (or third) that Lotus of Siam - try the "Nam Kao Tod" app - ground "sour sausage" stir fried with all kinds of good stuff, a truly unique flavor, but you'll like it. Had the fried whole catfish last time; was great but a whole lot of food.

Re: buffets; Paris is very good as is the Spice Market buffet next door at Planet Ho (formerly Alladin). For a drive out (10 miles west), go out and visit Red Rock. A beautiful property (owned by "locals" casino giant Station Casinos)with a good buffet and a good Mex ("Cabo") and multiple other places that I haven't tried.

Re: burger places - for a fast food option not available around here, try "In n Out" - many locations in LV. Very good for fast food.

Enjoy and viva!

I lived in Vegas for a bit and did a lot of business dinners around town. Being from New Orleans, food is my hobby.

Exceptional favorites with exceptional service...

Steakhouse: BOA in the Forum Shops. Reasonable Vegas steakhouse prices and excellent food and service.

Italian: Rao's (sister restaurant to the famous Rao's in New York). Lemon Chicken is world famous. I love their veal. Service is amazing and portions are made for family style/splitting.

A Bit Adventurous - you won't be disappointed:

Sensi (Bellagio) - Lobster Fried Rice is an entree. It is probably the best entree that I have ever had outside of New Orleans. Great setting - Asian, Italian, American

Aquanox (Venetian)- Great Seafood Restaurant. This is not Louisiana Seafood. Check out the menu first to see if it would suit you. It is not for everyone.

Japonais (Mirage)- Best Sushi restaurant in Vegas. Awesome setting. The fish is exceptional quality.

Old School Vegas (Downtown):

Both of these options are more reasonable prices and just a quick cab to downtown:

Hugo's Cellar (Four Queens): Very Romantic. The ladies get a rose presented to them at the table. Great experience as they bring a "salad cart" and you pick your items and they make your salad for you table side. The Steak and Lobster dinner is very reasonably priced.

Vic and Anthony's (Golden Nugget): Steakhouse with great service and atmosphere (awesome old school vegas pictures and dining with old school vegas people at the Nugget). Food quality/menu is the same as Ruth's Chris.

***If you go Downtown - stop in the Golden Gate Cssino and get a $.99 Shrimp Cocktail (or five)***

Other Solid Choices: Delmonico, Tao, Mon Ami Gabi, Wynn's Buffet(Sign-Up for a player card and it's practically free - google or I can explain how/strategy if interested).

Great "Dive" - Hard Rock Casino's Mr.Lucky's. Open 24 Hours. Great Menu and delicious "casino cafe" food. Just trust me on this one - Ask for "The Gambler's Special" (not on the menu). Salad, Steak, Shrimp, Mash Potatoes for $7.77 - Best deal in Vegas.

Very overrated (my opinion): Emeril's Table 10 and B & B Ristorante

Side note: My favorite Vegas restaurant (food and value) was Commander's Palace. It was probably my New Orleans' bias, but I was very sad to see it leave town.

HOLY CRAP! Thank you all so much for the ideas! My work is cut out for me to narrow this down to one nice meal and a couple of lunches (will only be there for a couple of days).

Lester, true, Hugo's Cellar is a great call for a young couple on a romantic date, the rose and salad cart, plus environs make for a pampered affair.

Has Michael's relocated or up and running at South Point from Barbary Coast? Any good since move?

And Spy, you are right, Ogden is overrated. Guy Savoy at CP a much better meal.

Cili at Bal Hai and Fiore at Rio were also very good years ago.

Poodle resided in Viva for while too.

We ate a dusk dinner at "The Top of the World" at the Stratosphere. Food was excellent. My wife likes to have vinegar to dip crabs/lobster in. The staff did not have any vinegar on hand so they sent someone to a nearby store before they brought out our main meal. The view was awesome, restaurant is slowly moving clockwise over the strip.

I've never been, but doesn't it supposedly make a full rotation every hour?

Go read the life bio of Bob Stupak that built Stratosphere..crazy bastard..but a Vegas legend. Made fortune via Vegas World. He bet and won a million dollars on Cincy +7 vs SF in 1989 Super Bowl at Gene Mayday's Lil Caesar's casino, then bought Mayday a rocket car to put outfront as a gift. Nearly died riding a motorcycle. Also has a WSOP bracelet.
