We ate a four course meal in about 2 hrs, seems as if it made a full rotation about every 35-45 minutes. Food was really good, good desert as well.

I'm going back to Vegas in May for UFC 98. I know I plan on eating at Ellis Island, Trader Vic's, Firefly, Del Frisco, Lotus of Siam, and I also want to go to the Peppermill Fireside Lounge...

I've dined once at the top of the tower about 12 years ago. The view and atmosphere are unique. The food and service were very good, but not outstanding. Of course the fare was mainly steakhouse variety, which you could get at any of the casinos. The only reason we ended up dining there is that it was so close to the Olympic Garden, which was one of two quality gentlemen's clubs back then. We were celebrating the closing of a financing transaction, and the representatives from G.E. Capital had $5,000 of "entertainment" budget to spend that evening. Good times. It's too bad the Stratosphere is kind of stuck in the middle of nowhere, half-way between downtown and the Strip.

If you like the "young sassy attitude" kinda place, Excalibur has Dick's Last Resort. Food there was ok, had the grilled catfish and they had a real good spicy tartar sauce with it. They also had frozen diaquiris there, the large being $16 a pop but guess you gotta exect that on the Strip.

Not far from the Strip is the Hoffbrau Haus, with real German food and beer. It's right by the UNLV campus, so if you like watching college girls get completely shitfaced, it's a good bet.

The Cravings buffett at the Mirage is very good. Some say that other on the Strip are better and they may be right. That said, you can do a Sunday champagne brunch for 2 for just under $50 and get excellent quality food as well. Hard to beat a bragain like that on the Strip.

Unrelated note: If you're near the Palms, see if their theatre is still showing The Dark Knight on IMAX. It's KILLER on IMAX.
