There is a sign on the corner of Harrison and Canal for a coming restaurant, Lakeview Pearl - "Asian Bistro and Sushi". Looks like they are starting construction soon. Anyone know anything about the people behind this restaurant or what we can expect? I hope it's good because I would love to be able to walk and pick up sushi a few nights a week.

Lakeview is in desperate need of some good sushi, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed too!

Yeah, Wasabi is very convenient for me, but its not all that great. Pretty mediocre. And they have all that wasted space by the bar where they could do hibachi and probably bring in more business.

Looking forward to Lakeview Pearl (even though I know nothing about it) and the place next door.

Definitely looking forward to the two new places...except for the parking. Boy am I glad I don't live within a block of there.

I heard the place next door is going to be a coffee house. Is that true? Will it have anything else?

Well it looks like they have started doing foundation work and they have a sign up, so hopefully it will be open around the end of the end of the year?? The loss of China Rose left a void in Asian food in LV, very excited for this place to open.

Lakeview still desperately needs a decent Chinese Restaurant with no China Rose or Hong Kong.

It would do gangbusters.

Me too, but have never eaten at the LV location. What area of LV are you in? We're between the 17th Street Canal and Ponchartrain Blvd.

It looks like they served skewers at Taste at the Lake 2012.

Living in our current place for a few years, then it will be a rental. We plan on moving to the other side of the tracks (between Canal, Harrison, Marconi and the lake) soon!

I live in one of the condos on Lake Marina. I don't want to buy a house until after our Wedding in Feb, but we're looking.

I know someone who knows the owner. He said not to have high expectations of the place.

Not a fan of the name. But if the food turns out to be good then who cares.
