Cafe Habana, Deano’s, The Cellar, La Fonda, Bread and Circus, Pete’s, Bon Temps

Tried to think of the closest places near you.

Don's. Get at least a cup of the crawfish bisque.

If you get tempted by Prejean's, try the alligator-crab cheesecake.

Both places are medium priced and make traditional local fare. Neither of them are Michelin Star restaurants, nor are they favorites of some on here. I'm just suggesting them so you can get a taste of the local flavors.

Some of the best food in South Louisiana comes from the Lafayette area IMO.

Ah shite, forgot about Don’s. My vote would probably be for Don’s one night and sit at the bar.

Have any of you been to Bon Temps in its new location? I have not. Just curious.

you should check out shade tree in broussard, its only about 10 min from where you are at down pinhook. I think you will enjoy it more than anywhere else mentioned especially petes. No inside dining though so if the weather is not good its a no go unless you want to bring it back to the hotel.

back to petes, that place used to be so awesome like 15 years ago when it was dirty looking and you couldnt see because it was dark. last time I ate there a couple of years ago I said never again. the burger was worse than even the shittiest fast food burger.

It’s been about 15 years since I ate at Pete’s as well. This place was my first thought. Can anyone verify if it’s still any good?

As a lunch spot with co-workers, it’s fine. Not sure I’d be excited about it as a night out. Their onion strings are bomb.

Fair criticism about Pete’s, I dunno if it’s nostalgia that keeps me going back, but I know when they first reopened the consensus was it sucked. But got some new management and it’s been fine ever since IMO. It’s just a local sports bar.

Shade Tree another great suggestion.

We can make restaurant recs go pages OP, give us some more requirements.

Edit: I’ll personally vouch that Pete’s is still good if you just wanna drink some beer, eat a burger, and watch TV at the bar. But I’d never say they were the best at anything.

I haven’t, used to always be at their Verot location. My only gripe was their menu was pretty stagnant, but probably was for me because I was always there.

Olde Tyme Grocery - It's poboys so more inexpensive than medium priced. They close fairly early in the evening on Saturday and closed on Sunday.

As already mentioned Tchops Mid City Smokehouse on S. College is awesome for real BBQ and a good cocktail menu. Great atmosphere as well on the back deck.

So many options......support Bon Temp Grill on Pinhook in the Oil Center and the old Lafayette tradition, Don's Seafood Hut.

Yes. Food quality (and service) is just as good as the old location.

The day I went to the new location, it was all new staff. Good people, but they treated me as a brand new customer (the regular staff knows me by name and what I am going to order) but I understand. I'm ok feeling like a stranger in a restaurant that has moved to a new location. Will be going back because these people are doing it right with good food and very good service.

Fried shrimp poboy at Old Tyme.
Boudin and stuff grilled cheese sandwich at Johnson’s.
Breakfast and meatball stew at T-Coons.
Double grilled bacon cheeseburger with grilled onions from Max’s.
