This is a spinoff thread from the OT about what places to eat and drink at in lafayette. My question is why with all the money they are making won't they hire a good chef to change the menu and have food that is actually good?

With all the great restaurants in lafayette i don't understand how they settle for selling frozen store bought enchiladas. Their margaritas are top notch and they have a good atmosphere once the STM crowd lets you buy a drink.

It was a joke.

They just taste like store bought enchiladas.

Just looking at the overall picture. Their food isn't up to par with how busy they are. That is what I'm trying to get at.

Arguably the best resturant in the entire state.

Nothing new there. Its the bar and the "I have this need to be seen" crowd.

Well obviously they spent their focus on making those bomb-arse margaritas with the everclear in them

Obviously there is so much tail in there.

Just doesn't make sense why they can't have good food. Most people would complain if a place doesn't have good food but seems like no one cares at La
Fonda's. Real good marketing I guess.

Like I said, a bunch of folks have this "real need to be seen" complex.

I think one of the problems, and I have found this to be true with a few local institution type places in Lafayette, is that there is an older crowd of long time customers that absolutely do not want things to change. The folks running the place now have made a few changes, but acknowledge that making wholesale changes to a place like this puts them at risk of alienating people who come there expecting a certain experience.

I'm not a fan of the building and atmosphere itself. I feel like everyone is jam packed and there's zero noise absorption. It's so loud and crowded.

Last time I went it was exactly as you stated. No one cooks at home anymore.

Haven't been there since the early '80s and I realize the food quality's gone way down.

Does anyone remember their empanadas from back in the day? Holy crap they were good.

Maybe because they're already making all that money.
